If B:AA was in today's poll instead of DA:O and we based B:AA on its performance against DA:O...it would have lost the lead a few minutes ago to Uncharted 2. I don't think DA:O will be catching up to Uncharted 2 any at this point, so it looks like Uncharted 2 will be the legitimate GotY runner-up and MW2 will be the legitimate GotY, unless you think removing DA:O would help Uncharted 2 recover from its 47-53 loss (which is growing while we're in the ASV) to MW2.


Also, though it'd be great if we get a GotD-poll tomorrow, I don't think we should carry that specific tradition any more after this year (except when we're really at the end of a decade) just because of all the LFF and trying to get in a lot of games that, frankly, we just don't care so much about anymore...MP, LoZ:WW, and GTA:SA come to mind. What about if we had a poll at the end of our GotY-series asking about our favorite game from the past five years though? We would be able to remove the oldest and add the newest each year, there would be less LFF, and half the options so we can better see each game. It also seems easier to keep as a yearly tradition than GotD or GotC.

Just an idea, doubt SB'd go for it, but I think it could work.

In case anyone's interested I checked the Male/Female poll and nothing interesting there. Pretty similar percentages all around. Wyoming is the only state that's over 95% Male,* and Maryland and West Virginia were the only ones that were over 9% Female. None were over 10%. I guess there's a Cumberland Mountain Female Vote?


*This could be useful for determining the lowest possible amount of votes from Wyoming.

I think the general consensus is that the day/night thing really won't impact matches that much. If you look at previous 1v1 matches and take the first 12 hours or last 12 hours, in something like 95% of matches, the difference between either one and the 24-hour results will be under 2%. It takes the most extreme day/night differences to get beyond that, in part because 12-hour blocks are pretty big segments and because we get portions of the day and night votes in both 12-hour segments: the morning is in the "night" match and the ASV is in the "day" match. The actual effect will probably be even less because a lot of people are going to vote in both polls.

Yes I agree the day/night thing won't typically be a big deal, but if you look at Sub-Zero he's much better in the 2nd 12-hour segment than the first. I'd pick Tidus by a hair if it was a 24-hour match (basically a pick'em), but can't pick Tidus with it being a day match. Even though my bias is for Tidus.

There's probably quite a few matches where the day/night thing will change the result, but it'll be the type of thing that's not necessarily predictable beforehand.
