Well, around here school has always started around September 1st and ended around June 20th.

In my area, school starts up in the last week of August and ends sometime during the first week of June.

Iceland's not even part of the EU, and it's not like portugal's votes are bigger than mainland europes and by london, goddamnit, the british isles.

Portugal actually contributes more votes than you may be expecting.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3438&region=EUR

683 total Portuguese votes from Europe, though that number is reduced to 645 once you ignore the Portuguese votes that came from the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, and Finland. And even if 90% of the remaining votes went to Portugal, you're still looking at 581 votes for Portuguese coming from Portugal itself. And taking into account that some of Portugal votes might have been for the last option in the poll, I'm looking at about 600 votes from Portugal in a poll with a final vote total of 109652. For the European countries we can view results for, here were the votals for each one on that specific poll:

UK - 6765
Netherlands - 2369
Sweden - 1327
Germany - 1208
Finland - 820
Italy - 646

And Portugal appears to be right around Italy as far as how many votes they contribute to the polls.

Well, Tran, Lopen, red sox, Kleenex and Ngamer should probably start doing their write-ups soon.

A topic for Guest sign-ups should also go up this weekend.

Yeah, but both are going to win their first round matches. I just can't see Fawful putting up 30% on Vincent.

Then you don't know Fawful.

Also I'm banking on the joke characters being weaker in this format since they need much more than their standard joke votes to win.

On a somewhat random note, I think Goldeneye is pretty heavily underrated. 33% on FFVII with 2 other Nintendo games in the poll is no joke.

Especially with one of the other Nintendo games being a multi-player favorite on the N64 too. Still, it didn't impress in R1...and just how under-rated are we talking about here?

For what it's worth, SMRPG has had to face CT in 2004 and FF7 last year -- Square's two biggest hits here. MK64 was also in SMRPG's battle with FF7, so we could reasonably say SMRPG has always been under-rated in the stats. Even DKC2 probably had some kind of affect on SMRPG...

...but that would mean SMRPG's only truly-fair match would be against SF2 in 2004, and if that's the case, then SF2 took a hell of a drop from 2004 to 2009 or SMRPG boosted a lot since then. Either way, it's kinda hard to believe.

It's not hard to believe SF2 dropped a lot from 2004 to 2009. Ryu got 45% on Sonic in 2004, after all, while SF4 went even with Persona 4 in 2009 (sorry to bring that up again, but it's just so so bad.....).

For Goldeneye, I'm talking MGS/FFX level or thereabouts, maybe a tad lower- in other words on the border of the top 10.

Man. I'm still surprised Street Fighter IV is such a joke on this site. It seemed to get a good reception, and it's Street Fighter, man!

I think it's just that fighting game communities are pretty strong away from a site like this. Similar to a game like WoW, I think, where there's so much better for that type of game away from a site like this.

Yeah, but SF4 isn't SF2 and really shouldn't be compared. SF2 (and MK) was a period of gaming that spanned across the arcades, SNES, and Genesis with multiple variations of the game. SF4 was a sequel that went back to its SF2-roots, but it also sold poorly and was the only 2009-game to make it into BGE2 -- it was too new to do anything anyway. I wouldn't fault SF2 for SF4.

And that would still be a big fall for SF2; it went from 43.76% on SMRPG to 44.48% on Sonic 1. How much do you want to take Sonic 1 to get on SMRPG?

By the way, I've been doing trend charts for SC2K6 (our last one-on-one contest), and looking at The Boss's trends, her day vote isn't as abysmal as the rest of MGS.

Well, she faced Celes (We know FFVI's day vote by now) and Tifa (who, although she is FFVII, doesn't have a strong day vote), but she still won it both times.

Interesting note in 2007 though: She lost the DSV to Tails, but beat him outright with the ASV.
