Halo's always over-performed in hype-polls though, plus hype-polls in general are pretty sketchy to rely on.

CoD4 wasn't even in that poll (and would have likely done poorly if it was) yet wrecked Halo 3 post-release. Also, are many Halo-fans willing to jump to an RTS? Also, does Halo Wars work well as a console-RTS? I remember Starcraft 64 and that didn't really work.


Of course, I'm arguing on something i don't know about and just asked. Today's boring!

well halo wars sold nearly 2 million and got above average reviews, so i'm guessing a lot of Halo fans jumped on it. But as I said earlier, ODST is both a FPS (something most Halo fans would prefer), newer, and a better overall game, so its easy to see why it would smash Halo Wars.

Halo Wars wouldn't be competing with Manga Carta and Ninja Blade if it was the only Halo game in the poll.

I agree on that, but it probably wouldn't compete with the top four games after ODST, right? I imagine Shadow Complex would still probably beat it. That's what originally sparked my question.

Well GTA3 and San Andreas were some of the best games made IMO. Like Vice City there was something missing in GTA4.

aw hell no Vice City had one of the best feels in a GTA game, but what I really hated about GTA4 was the damn driving, if I can't enjoy the driving in a GTA game then screw the game, that's like 70% of the game that I won't like.

Never understood why people liked Vice City the best. It lacked the totally original and amazing feeling GTA3 had with a wide open city, and the amount of content and stuff to do that San Andreas had.

Vice City did have cool characters, but so did the other two. Half of the east side was beach while there weren't enough non-asset missions on the west side.

Had you been given the ability to jump out of cars and buying some extra save spots 3 would own Vice City a lot more.

I think the map was by far the best in San Andreas, but Vice City's was better than GTA3's in my opinion (the last part was annoying to navigate around).

What really sets Vice City apart is the atmosphere though. And man, the music was so good.

GTA:SA was the first GTA-game I tried to play seriously instead of simply driving around and wrecking chaos...and it was amazing. I couldn't even play GTA3 afterward and never had a good chance to try GTA:VC after that. I've never played GTA4 so I can't comment on that, but GTA:SA had the atmosphere, controls, and probably the missions that I wanted most.

My main issue with GTA4 is that it felt too confined after San Andreas. Its tough to have an entire state worth of content then go back to one city. Plus you couldn't even fly planes or use jetpacks, or even do those cool robbery sidegames or any of the other cool stuff from San Andreas.

GTA3 with vice city mechanics would have been great, since they had just about very real life major criminal gang from the cartel to the yardies.
But yeah SA felt like the culmination of everything that was good about GTA games, now if only the main character had been someone other than that lame CJ.

2005 a weak year for gaming? Gametrailers actually ranked 2005 as the third BEST year in gaming. Aside from Resident Evil 4 and God of War, you had:

Shadow of the Colossus - This just placed #1 on Destructoid's Top 50 Games of the Decade List, so how can 2005 be a weak year?
Civilization IV - Is a huge fan favorite among strategy gamers, and for good reason. Arguably the best strategy game since StarCraft.
Psychonauts - Another fan favorite, this time for those who like platformers.
Mario Kart DS - Nintendo kicks off online multiplayer.

Plus the Xbox 360 and PSP launched that year. Of course, I doubt that GameFAQs cares about much from 2005, unfortunately.

By the way, Halo 3: ODST lost the ASV to Halo Wars. Well, relative to each other at the start of the ASV and at the end of the ASV. Halo Wars had 13.14% on ODST at the start of the ASV and then ended the ASV at 13.35% on ODST.

The ASV for today went like this:

Halo Wars > Halo 3: ODST > Trials HD > Ninja Blade > 'Splosion Man > GTA > Magna Carta 2 > Forza Motorsport 3 > Shadow Complex > Star Ocean

Didn't they also have the year of the video game crash on that list? Unless you are a huge fan of one of the games that came out that year 2005 was the weakest year in gaming this decade, the only other years you could argue are 2003 and 2009.

2005 had RE4 right? God of War as well, but I believe those were the only good games released that year (you can make a case for MKDS though).

Actually, 2005 was pretty awesome looking at what all came out. Civ4, DQ8, SOTC, Jade Empire, DMC3, DW5, RE4, GOW, NGB. Definitely not the worst year of the decade.
