I wouldn't take Starcraft > LoZ:WW. If D2 > Starcraft, D2 didn't beat LoZ:WW too badly in a poll with SSBM. Starcraft also wasn't ever in contention against FF8 despite FF9. I think LoZ:WW would beat Starcraft under normal circumstances.

It could beat Halo again though, which is funny.

You mean during the contest where nominations were designated by console, thus diluting PC nominations while strengthening Halo's as the only notable Xbox game at the time?

Pretty bad example, especially since the nominations were traditional for last year's contest.

And my point is that I'd rather take the supposed-to-be game entrant over Comet Crash because regardless of winning, it at least provides us with a more stronger field.

Besides, even if Comet Crash got in, it'd be out the door the very next moment once SB gave us the "Add/Remove" option again.

If it was Add/Remove, most of Board 8 would be on board on keeping it in if it meant another Tanner, or did you miss how popular Jay Solano was over here?

Might as well see FF7 or OoT break 96% on a game instead of getting 90% on some other game nobody cares about.

Considering SF4 got in despite the majority not wanting it in, I wouldn't think B8's vote on a game staying in would mostly matter to Bacon.

I wasn't even around GameFAQs until fall 2007 at the very earlist, so I certainly didn't know who the hell Jay Solano even was.

The idea behind Jay Solano was to have a character that was even weaker than Tanner, who has been determined to be the weakest known character in the history of the contests. However, the bonus match ended up being hosted in Board 8 in which CJayC used some h4x to put a voting form inside of a topic. It wasn't hosted on the homepage, which is what needed to happen for Jay Solano to have a chance at being even weaker than Tanner. With Board 8 mostly in control of that match, they had a chance to give a win to Jay Solano.

I'm still surprised B8 let SF4 get in over TWEWY after TWEWY got the nominations. Considering the argument used to get Soul Calibur 2 in the contest (SSB has too much representation!), I figured it would have been used to rally SF4 over Halo 3 instead. That would have gotten a lot of us to bite on SF4 > L4D, at least, instead of a select few crazies to take SF4 > GTA4.

What-ev though, not like I care about any of those this-generation games anyway!

Yes, I already knew about that match, and I'm not really surprised that Jay Solana won to be honest. B8 being the host of the poll certainly meant it was probable for Jay to win that match since I'd have expected people wanted to see Link lose to anyone after the contest.

Hey, I thought SF4 would actually have strength. Plus it's not like TWEWY would've done anything.

Besides, we all know Bacon only did the Add/Remove thing so he'd have an excuse to put SF4 in the contest despite it being released during nominations. Bacon certainly doesn't mind playing favorites with these contests, after all.

I'm guessing that we'll get system of the year poll since if we get anything other than the game of the year poll game of the decade looks unlikely. Time for my prediction...

1. PS3
2. Xbox360
3. Wii
4. DS
5. PC
6. PS2
7. PSP

- Wii will be closer to DS than the other two consoles
- PS2 > PSP because of Sony SFF from PS3 and blind PS2 fanboys.

Well, at least it's a good poll to have. Are we certain he's going to have a contest-related poll the day before the contest? I know he does it nearly every year, but I also think SB would give the GotYs some extra pull if push came to shove. That's probably not the case, but, hey, we live in hope.

I also didn't realize DA:O was an original title. I guess the ": Origins" threw me off.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't. It at least raises contest awareness and gets some people to enter their bracket who wouldn't have before.

Plus I'm betting on this being Borderlands being stronger then we thought then anything. Have we seen Borderlands in a poll without MW2/L4D2? Those are both online FPS that would likely hurt Borderlands a lot.

Until the 15th, as in due on the 14th at 11:59:59. The contest page says it's still starting the 15th.

Also, pretty good votals on a GotY poll. 675 votes at the freeze today, compared to 716 at the freeze for the multiplatform one (which had the best votals so far).

My brother really enjoyed Borderlands. When I told him Claptrap made a contest, he laughed heartily...then said he'll never win a match, but it's great it made it in.

He also scoffed at Vault Boy making it in, for what it's worth, and he liked FO3 too.

Modern Warfare 2 = Uncharted 2

Of course using Borderlands Modern Warfare doubles Uncharted 2.

I don't think he's missed doing one yet. The poll regarding nominating characters for the character battle caused a significant jump in the number of nominations being made. I would imagine a poll regarding getting your bracket in would have the same effect.

I'm taking SSBB for a GotD-contest. We've seen more support for SSBB > SSBM than otherwise, no matter how much many of us wish SSBM > SSBB. I think either of them beat FFX though, and that would be the probable #3. Maybe LoZ:TP could beat FFX, but otherwise that's my #3.
