The Conduit is the odd game out in this poll. Even CoD is okay if you completely ignore the other versions. I
finally played NSMBW for the first time today. Even after playing only
the first world, it's impressed the hell out of me with clever level
design and smart gimmicks. Definitely earned my vote despite my only
playing a small part of it. And it's kind of surprising how the Wii managed to get a decent collection of games in 2009. Of course, that's not going to stop anyone from declaring the Wii a gaming failure and how it had no good games this year, when most of the games on the poll are rather good, not to mention snubs like WSR and MPT. Speaking of which, if both were included, would MPT be an easy second, and would WSR beat out Punch-Out!!? --- Not Wylvane |

I seem to remember somebody, maybe HRRH, saying that Mario Wii would struggle in GOTY. whoops! not much to say here outside of maybe comparing this performance with Uncharted 2's and saying that Mario probably walks into that matchup as the favourite for second place behind the multiplatform GOTY. --- xyzzy |

ok,
now that every major western reviewer and their mother has been
praising bayonetta loudly, can't see the game flopping, it's getting
nice ads too, now if only word of mouth on the ps3 version wasn't so
horrible we'd be looking at a next gen dante, but with on Gamefaqs, it
looks like she'll have to rely on the xbox 360 fanbase for contest
strength, shame her design would have appealed more to a sony crowd but

Dead
Space had a lot of critical acclaim and hype behind it, and it
basically flopped. Same with Mirror's Edge. It's hard these days for

say Uncharted 2. Having Mario on a wii poll is just asking for a huge
SFF beatdown of the competition, but Uncharted 2 isn't the kinda game

While
I expect Mario to have more SFF power, Uncharted 2 was probably almost
as strong in that department. Except for the DS and multiplatform all

Fun-fact:
we kid about NSMBW dominating this poll, but it's actually doing the
worst out of any Wii-GotY winner so far. SSBB, SMG, and especially
LoZ:TP all cleaned house better, and NSMBW was spared WSR and the
MP-trilogy to boot. It probably shouldn't be breaking 50%. Anyway, NSMBW is looking better than Uncharted 2. NSMBW is taking a bigger percentage against probably-stronger games, and I think the poll's on-track to equal the PS3-GotY's vote totals (confirmation, please). On top of that, we've already seen NSMBW beat Uncharted 2: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3684 Uncharted 2's not proven it will reverse that yet. Fantasy is also a much bigger vacuum for franchise votes then Halo is,
plus I'm not that confident that Halo 3 ODST won't be LFF'd by Halo

I don't think we can just throw FFXIII the title for next year just yet. Don't forget there was time when we thought RE5 would have it with no competition this year. General opinion on the game and it's overwhelming linearity is low. The possibility of Zelda Wii is still there (though low) or something else entirely. No-one anticipated XII flopping before it launched. --- Anything could happen. |

I agree completely and at the moment, none of the big first party games have release dates anyway. I don't think Nintendo are going to be doing anything till at least the the Summer and will then rock the last half of the year and Christmas in particular. Zelda Wii I admit looks unlikely given that would mean all three games hit within 9 months at the most which is crazy. --- But who knows. |

Next
year's CoD won't be nearly as huge. It's just going to be another WaW
for the series, it'll do decently but no way will it be a big threat.
The Modern Warfare games are the huge attention-getters. RE5 was the favorite until people remembered MW2 was also coming out this year. Then RE5 got a mixed reception, and the latter 09 lineup looked better, so yeah. Still wouldn't surprise me if RE5 pulls a better performance than most expect due to franchise votes. games are only big every other year due to that being the Infinity Ward
games. CoD3, World at War, and next years game will be Treyarch, who

Batman
is the wildcard. We haven't seen any polls based on it since before it
released, and a lot of people were still skeptical of it before it
released due to it being a super hero game and they typically aren't
