And I say this as someone who played LBP and wasn't blown away by it. I'd vote for Sackboy over most, even if I don't think all that highly of the game. Sackboy's appeal definitely extends beyond one's enjoyment of his game -- it's why he got into the contest before LBP came out in the first place.

Do we have any notable remakes this year? The only ones I saw this year from the GotY-polls we've covered so far was LBP and the GoW-collection...we'll probably see the MP-trilogy and Punch-Out too if that counts. Will there be enough for a Remake-GotY this year?

Most people have him losing in round 1. Though if you have him over Big Daddy Ness isn't too far off either.

Ah, but since CT was first on the SNES, it was already Nintendo-related! Clearly the original Magus/Link overperformance was the result of rSFF. With even more of a connection now that CT is out on 2 Nintendo systems, the rSFF will be more than twice as large, and Magus will be breaking 40% this time!

My Most Anticipated Matches:

4. Sonic/Ganondorf

The most hyped match from 2006 returns, with the Twilight Princess release having come and gone, and Sonic having fallen off a cliff. Both characters look a lot worse than they did in 2006 now. Then, Vincent beat Ganon with 52% and was beaten by Sonic with 52% in turn. This is the single best chance for the Noble Nine to be broken this year.

3. Sephiroth/Snake

This is objectively the most important match of the year barring anything shocking happening like Square announcing the FFVII remake during the contest and making Link/Cloud competitive again. The Noble Nine rules the contest field, and Clinkeroth towers above the rest of the Noble Nine. Every year, the lower Noble Nine set out and strive against each other for the right to challenge Sephiroth and enter the ranks of Clinkeroth, but none has yet defeated him. Snake has, over the past 3 years, particularly the last one, earned the right to face Sephiroth more than any other. He probably has a better chance of defeating him than ever a challenger had before. Can he do it?

2. Pokemon Trainer Red/Mega Man X

It's been fun debating and hyping Red for the past few months. Now it's time to see him deliver. Also, strong newcomers make for interesting matches, and while X isn't a newcomer, he's never been in a proper 1v1 before so he may as well be for all we know of his strength.

1. Crono/Sephiroth

Because when it comes down to it, the character I care about above all others is Crono, and the match in which Crono loses is almost always going to be the most important match of the year for me.

Indeed. But despite Vincent deserving to be the favorite, and proving it by winning, Sonic/Ganon was the most talked about match before the contest! I wish Heroic Mario would make picks like that again......he always managed to get quite a few people to follow him on his bandwagons, and it made for very intereting discussion.
