It's not like we didn't see huge, seemingly unbelievable gains that year, too. Hey there, Luigi and Kirby. While large, the Nintendo Boost was nothing compared to the difference between Cloud and Tifa. The only comparable thing, really, would be Squall's apparent boost in 2003, if you think there was no SFF in Snake/Squall 2002. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

Well you'd expect Vincent to suffer against Sephiroth more than Tifa does so that doesn't really mean anything to me --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |

People
don't factor in Tifa because she hasn't been able to impress as much as
Vincent has with his strong performances the past couple years,
including beating Crono. She missed 2007 and was stuck behind Sephiroth
2008, plus her results were skewed in 2006 due to her overperformance
on Samus, so the last time we really got a good read on her was 2005. Now I wish we had Vincent/Tifa. Most people would pick Vincent without a second thought, and even now I'd still pick Vincent since he's performed better, but Tifa could easily surprise everyone and defeat Vincent. Of course, even though they'll share a common opponent, it's Sephiroth, so I wouldn't put too much faith into their performances. I'd imagine Tifa will hold up much better than Vincent due to Sephy and Vince having similar appeal, but Vincent may also hold up incredibly well to the SFF, so who knows. If it was a neutral character like Mario or Samus, then I'd be for the comparisons, but Sephiroth just makes comparisons more difficult. --- Not Wylvane |

also curious, with all his GotY ranting, how far Lightslayer has Soap
going, because it's obvious that MW2 is at least stronger here than

Tifa
is going to demolish Gordon Freeman so hard he'll end up looking like
his old GFNW self, though I'm looking at peach and thinking, the last
division in round1 always tends to throw in a few surprises, most

Even
Vincent's performance against Sephiroth can't really be taken all that
seriously. I mean, Link, Sephiroth, Mario... Vincent. One kind of sticks out there. Vincent is just screaming waste of vote there. As opposed to Tifa actually having a chance to advance in her match with Seph --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |

say it is. Kirby just gets a beard and tiny bandanna if he gets a Solid
Kirby pic. Sackboy literally looks like Snake (or Seph). It'd probably

I'll
admit, it's good that Sackboy looks to be as good as Ratchet even
without a game yet, so the only question is how much is he going to
gain from his game being released. HIs game is clearly the biggest
original platformer we've had in awhile, but it's still a GoTY poll and
it could be one of those "crap after release" because it did do worse
on MGS4 in the Game Contest. So now it's just a matter of do people care enough to vote Sackboy. --- *is Dranze* Krahen Prophet did a fatality. |

For
what it's worth (very little, but something maybe)...if you look at the
GameSpot contest and assume Snake = Link, Sackboy beats Crash. This is
before the PS3's price-cut and LBP on the PSP, too, though it ignores
any SFF Crash may have suffered by facing the far larger PS-icon in
Snake. I think he beats J&D, R&C, and B&K too. Either way though, that's GameSpot and their bracket got ****ed up through-out the contest in various ways, so it doesn't matter much more than saying "Hey, Sackboy has fans somewhere else."
