Other than controls

You could play in top view, and it was a lot more tactical and forced you to pause and issue commands to all your party members even on normal difficulty if you want a chance to beat battles, while the console version is really easy and you can easily beat any battle outside of boss battles by just letting your party members do their thing on their own. This was done both because tactical pause and play rpgs typically are too difficult and time confusing for console players, plus its a lot easier to be done on PC due to having an entire bar of your actions (up to 35 if you have a widescreen), and easier to make commands on the fly due to the mouse.

Plus they really dumbed down the difficulty. Easy on PC version is about comparable to normal on console version

Not quite. Easy type was made after the SNES version that we got and was even easier. Easy type also had a different last boss that later appeared as an optional baddie in the gba version.

The version that we got was easier than the FFIV released in Japan, but FFIV easytype was released after the US release and was even easier. That's all I'm saying!

Most people didn't realize that FF2 SNES =/= FF4 ET back then. Wouldn't be surprised if CJayC didn't know the difference back then either. People assumed the two were the same thing when in reality there were three different versions.

We've seen no proof that MW2 hasn't lived up to the hype here, though we haven't seen any proof it was well-received here either. I'm gonna assume it's as strong as it was before it came out for now, but even if it does bomb, I still don't see it getting beat for GotY. NSMBW bombed, and I don't see Dragon Age or RE5 or whatever being nearly strong enough to dent MW2. There's not really any huge recognizable names to upset it besides maybe Uncharted 2, and even then I'm pretty skeptical about U2's strength,

Plus, why use Dragon Age rather than RE5 or AC2? I'd pick both those games to beat DA easily.

Last year, FO3 shocked GTA4 on Gamespot polls for GOTY and I called that to be the reason FAllout 3 would win here. Our fanbasse are very similiar.

Because Dragon Age easily beat AC2 in the last poll asking which game you liked the most from the last several months, and RE5 got 1% in the Gamespot GOTY poll compared to Dragon Ages 20%

Dragon Age beat AC2, but I wouldn't say that easily. If you think the poll is even remotely legit for judging strength, MW2 will win with ease.

Because MW2 hype is about gone. I'm not sure if you're heavy into the 360 fanbase like I am, but nobody plays it anymore. Like everyone on my buddy list was playing it in November, but theres like only 2 or 3 people who play it on a normal basis now. In general it was seen as a disappointment and people have moved on from it.

Thats why I don't expect a great showing and part of why I've given up on Soap.

erm, going back to characters, after seeing KH 358/2 impress somewhat, does anyone think Roxas is steadily reaching riku levels, Axel is dead meat this contest, but Roxas/Tidus might be closer than we think for a 2nd round match.

Also with BBS coming out, what are the odds of even more KH characters making the next character contest? Of that ven/aqua/terra trio the designs are good and with KH being such a strong franchise, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a few more of these guys.

Most (all?) of us have made some pretty stupid picks before. Also, there's a limit on how stupid a pick concerning a newcomer to contests can be. Until we've seen a character in the contest (or at least seen characters from the same game, etc.) we have a pretty limited ability to judge their strength.

Considering how hard you were arguing for him (I remember "GH3 > LoZ:TP") and how you barely posted the day we saw that result, I'm pretty sure you weren't so suave about it.


Anyway, yeah, we've all had some dumb picks by this point, but as long as we're not disrespectful or being dumber with our arguments than our picks, we tend to let each others' mistakes slide. Alternatively, we've all had picks somewhere in our history that outsmarted the rest, and as long as we aren't arrogant or downing others for failing to see what you saw, I think we tend to be supportive of each other. We're an oddly proud community of people here who have won prize-money and scored high continuously in multiple contests of various formats over the years, a small group of people who are often looked upon for answers by the rest of the board (which already does significantly better than the rest of GameFAQs). Some of us talk outside of these topics, this site, or even the internet. When we're not crossing our fingers to win, I think we'd rather see other CS&D-regulars win sometimes because we respect each other enough to argue with and against each other all year long. At least that's my stance, and I imagine I'm not alone...

...but now I've drifted. Point is, let your overall records and general post-content speak for you in here instead of select picks and revisionist history. I think the people who have done that tend to be the most respected. We're about to hit our thirteenth contest (that's 448 one-on-one matches, 189 four-ways [with each one having twelve different ways of picking your winners], and a top-ten list behind us), so great and terrible picks are no longer unusual.
