The
only thing that makes sense to me for Samus > Snake is that EC and
company were right all along about Samus, and that she was equal or
stronger than Mario all through the height of the Boost years (when
Mario was at his strongest). Well, not the Samus > Sephiroth part,
of course, but I applaud anyone who had the guts to stick with Samus
after seeing the matches with Tifa and Zelda. And of course Tidus beats Bowser and Yoshi in 2003! 'Twas the year of Square! --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

Crono
fell a bit as well. There's nothing weird at all about that,
considering in the next contest he lost to Vincent after putting 56% on

Because I remember everyone at the time saying that Mega Man had dropped so much. And Sonic did .34% better against Snake than him. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

Mega
Man looked horrible in the matches before hand, that's why everyone was
calling for his head. Don't forget that Mega Man and Crono were the
favorites to come out of the 2006 male side. People that were watching
were split between MM and Crono, so each side made sure to point out

Mega Man dropped so much because he faced opponents that were either A) unknowns (Axel and post-KH2 Sora), or B) coming off an awful year (Ryu). As someone who has Bowser beating Sora, Sora could get mid 50s despite no ASV and it wouldn't surprise me one bit. --- Never forget - 12/10/2009 HOPE |

Here's
the thing: Crono, Mega Man, and Sonic really weren't that far apart in
2005. It was Crono > Mega Man > Sonic, and the different between
Crono and Sonic was less than 52%. The fact that the trio was basically
reversed in 2006 could just be chalked up to random variation. I think

Yeah, but ask pretty much anyone how MM's 2k6 was and they'll say 'bad'. If his 2k6 was bad, why was Sonic's so good? Because everyone had MM going far. No one had faith in Sonic to do anything in that contest (many people had him losing to Vincent, while the rest had him losing to Crono). Because
for 61 days, Sonic looked good and Megaman looked really bad. The only
person arguing they were still equals was BT. Everything changed on the
62nd day, when Snake killed Sonic. BT actually won this argument,
although not immediately. The Snake > Sonic with 55% result was so
shocking for us that for a long time, we speculated on theories such as
Snake overperforming on Sonic or Crono underperforming on Sonic. Over
the years though, gradually all of these have lost support and BT's

Except
in hindsight, beating Crono was pretty much all Crono dropping. At
best, Sonic stayed the same. Pre-contest expectations shouldn't matter
nearly as much when you can look at the big picture when everything is

and I can't believe I forgot to mention why I think Sonic won't be
helped by the change to 1 v 1s. Sonic looked worse in 2k7 and 2k8 than

don't remember BT having much of an logical argument about MM before
Snake/Sonic. But we (meaning the rest of the topic, including me) were
very insistent on Megaman looking horrible, and being a clear cut below
Crono and Sonic. And given the same situation again, I think I would
probably still argue that- Megaman taking a dive was what made sense to
me then, and I still don't see anything wrong with that reasoning,
based on the Ryu and Sora matches. However, we were wrong, at least if the Snake matches are to be believed. Megaman, Sonic, and Crono ended up as near equals. If BT was arguing that Megaman was stronger than them, then he was wrong, but from what I remember the argument was mostly us saying that the Ryu and Sora matches clearly showed that MM had fallen, and BT denying it. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

Let's
see. Based on 2k5 stats, Sonic/Vincent was projected to go 52/48. In
2k6, he got... 52/48! Obviously, a drop there. I mean, if you want to
make a case that Vincent overperformed in 2k5, I would argue that AC
actually releasing and DoC giving him a starring role should be more
than enough to make up for that. Because of those, 2k6 Vincent was
thought to be a candidate for a decent boost. At least, I find it very
hard to believe that Sonic dropped that year. Of course, this argument
is pretty useless anyways, as we can't really figure out how much he
dropped, much less how much of it we should blame on 4-ways. --- In my first sig change in years, I salute Krahenprophet, winner of the Guru and of BGE2009. Huzzah! |

2 will likely finish with ~26000 votes. If this is the best it can hope
to do, I am not impressed at all. I like the PS3 and all, but it being
exclusive to that system is going to hurt Drake quite a lot. 26k votes

Hmmm...Uncharted did worse in North America and the U.S. than it did overall. In fact, it did the best in Europe and the UK.
