Another thing I noticed: Most of these game names are stupid.

This might be the dumbest-sounding list of games I've ever seen. If this gets more votes than the PC poll it'll be a travesty.

Hahaha, only 433 votes at the freeze. Yesterday's poll had 522 votes at the freeze. So this poll looks like it could finish below 40000 votes, something that has not happened for several years. That's if you ignore last year's US election day poll, since that was probably a little less than a 12 hour poll and the Jay Solano bonus match.

For this year, there are only 3 new releases for North America. And since North America is responsible for a very huge portion of our votes, you won't be seeing any Europe or Japan exclusive games in these GotY polls. For the 3 games that will be released in North America, they are also being released on other consoles. Of course, the list of releases so far only covers the first 5 months, so there might be a few more releases later on.

I'm pretty confident that this may be our last PS2 GotY poll.

2008: Mega Man 9 (3.5%)
2007: Crysis (2.5%)

Was there even a deadline given for the start of the contest? I mean, I know there's a deadline for brackets but that doesn't necessarily have to equate to the contest starting the next day.

Or does it say "the contest will start on blah blah" somewhere in the small print

Generally, the bracket deadline is the day before the contest starts. Doesn't have to be, I guess, but that's the way it's always been, as far as I remember.

Uncharted didn't do too bad here. Not much variety and lost to R&C, but still a decent performance, probably along the lines of LittleBigPlanet. Still didn't help Drake beat CATS, though.

Early 2006 certainly wasn't the year for Pokemon, as it was pretty well behind FE8. I guess it was between the GotY polls and the Series Contest where GameFAQs suddenly decided it was cool to like Pokemon again.
