You're forgetting the next match where Sora was taken out of the poll and Squall STILL gets less than 49% I'm not, actually, and I've been an advocate of FF/MGS SFF for years before that match ever took place. But I know that there is no consensus on this, so I figured I'd use the Sora match. FF/KH SFF/LFF is less disputed. It's sad that this distinction invalidates my argument for many. Do you honestly think there is no LFF going on between Squall and Sora? For one, I would rather assume that there is LFF going on between Squall and Sora than assume that there isn't any LFF going on between Squall and Snake. This is in itself an argument for Snake/Squall LFF, even though that was my point of view beforehand. --- Champagne after a victory is a nice treat. So
right now I'm at the point where only a couple of matches are giving me
trouble. Ness/Geno, Terra/Revan and Altair/Liquid. I'm leaning towards
Geno/Terra/Liquid, but I don't feel comfortable in them at all. |

Altair got 30% in a match with Duke Nukem, Lucario, and Marth. Phoenix Wright could honestly do very good on any of those four characters (and he could probably beat a bum like Lucario). Yeah, Altair could get some sort of hype boost from Assassin's Creed 2, but he can only get so much considering he's not the star of the game. --- "Hold on a minute! That testimony stinks!" "Witness! Leon, you realize that match is the
definition of "perfect storm", right? You've got three Ninty
characters, and two of them are from the same series, against a mature
PSX character who has a hype boost due to a new game in his series
where his name pops up a lot coming up. I honestly can't take that poll

I
have no faith in Altair and think Ezio is very likely to bomb his
2-seed away. I don't think standing out with a cool character design
will matter as much when we revert back to 1v1. Not if you're an

think Liquid calms down from last year, and Altair will get a boost
from AC2. Liquid is the favorite there but it isn't set in stone. And I think Ezio will be a little stronger than Altair, so I don't think he bombs either. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

It had already been out for several months by the time the contest started. Altair's already pretty far behind as it is, and I don't think he's going to get a substantial boost from a game he's not even in. Altair's biggest advantage is that he's a 2 seed, and he better hope for a lot of bracket voting. It helps Altair that it's a day match, but I think we're making way too much of the day/night disparity because the trends will be affected to the point that I don't think ASVs or night votes will be as strong or as pronounced as we're accustomed to seeing. will be stronger then last year. aC2 is a hot need game plus people
seem to remember him more then they did last time since he got more

The
vast overestimation of trends is thinking there could be a 3-5%+ swing
depending on whether it was a day vote or a night vote. Seriously, look
up any match and tell me how many of them have a 5%+ swing. It's not

There really aren't many swings even around 5%. I think I've seen maybe 2% and some change at the most. As for the Red conversation, I actually like the Peach comparison. Peach is merely somebody you save, and represents a goal but has little interaction with anything else. Though if I think Peach also gets support from stuff like Mario Kart, and having her own game, that should be enough to take Ocelot over Red. I also liked the thinking of expecting Red to do well would also mean a lot for characters like Brock and Misty; I've seen more people talk about them than Red. Good points I never really thought about. I personally don't know if Red could be drastically farther away from those guys. --- *is Dranze* Krahen Prophet did a fatality. |

Peach comparisan was...really bad. They aren't all-around similar, but I can see the similarity when you talk about simply being a recognizable character that not many people are vocal about. Of course, being playable in the actual game does help, and if there is any emotional tie deep down inside... then sure, he can at least beat Ocelot if that's the case. --- *is Dranze* Krahen Prophet did a fatality. |

I'm
switching to Ryu. Ever since I really started thinking about it, it's
struck me as an upset that could easily happen. Dante has the 2K5
Vincent match and better 4way results, but he's never gotten that big
1v1 win. I don't believe in Capcom SFF, but I do believe
there's overlap between these similar looking, badass human characters,
and I wouldn't be surprised if those voters sided with the more
established Ryu. I also hadn't realized that Devil May Cry 4 is almost two years old already. Ryu wins the recency battle with two games (HD Remix and SFIV) that have hit stores since his last match. you are the main character and Red has no personality whatsoever, i
mean link and crono don't say **** but even so, they have built up a
kind of personality around them, while red is just you, and in G/S/C
he's merely the badass final boss. I honestly think he won't choke, because Ocelot folds against anything iconic and red is an icon imo. --- Shakes Fist! |

KP, dont overuse the facepalm, especially when Soul's statement is
correct. Vaan IS stronger in relation to FFXII than Red is to RBY,
since Vaan isnt a blank state character. But RBY is miles ahead of

once again would like to state my opinion that FF12 has the most boring
and most uninteresting characters in existence which is why nobody
