Yeah, I do honestly believe that out of every Final Fantasy character around, none of them will stand up to Cloud and Sephiroth better than Auron does. Of course, most of the ones that could rival Auron in strength are from FFVII and would obviously get destroyed, and the other is Squall, who has his reasons to have a hard time with Cloud. I dunno how he'd do against Sephiroth though. Maybe we'll get a chance to find out...! Okay, maybe not. We'll get to see how Vinny and Tifa handle Sephy straight up though.

Thinking back on that now, maybe I'm not so sure on it. I remember Vivi not doing much worse on Sephiroth in 2004 than Auron did.

Sora had Squall to deal with there too. I think in a one-on-one situation he'd do much better than Squall did.

even in this match, he did better on Squall than he did in the prior round. (I think)

Eh Sora > Auron is like... a very low possibility upset. Not gonna say impossible but yeah. How do those two polls show Sora > Auron at all; that's only true if Crono has proven stronger than MM. Besides Auron is the well liked badass guy (untainted by FFX-2 might I add) while Sora is lol Disney who isn't even liked as a character by fans of his series (Roxas and Riku are both cooler btw).

heck KHII got dangerously close to Resident Evil 4, now we know games=/=characters, but when you are from an rpg, a well liked company and your series is one of the most popular on the site, it does raise a question as to why we always underrate him. KHII did help him gain a new badass outfit of sorts afterall.

KH is carried by FF and Disney; Sora isn't even Top 5 material out of the KH original characters. Most fans of the series are also huge Square fans and they would not vote Sora over freaking Auron. Are non-fans going to vote for some goofy looking kid with a freaking giant key for a weapon or the badass guy in the trenchcoat with a SWORD?

Yeah, he was, because he was new and because you could put him in your party. I'm not denying that Auron wasn't awesome in KHII (because he was), but Squall still had a more important and larger role overall in the game.

Why wouldn't you think Bowser has a chance against him? I mean Sora's been boosting and all that but let's look at 2006, when most of his boosting should've been out of his system. 45% on Mega Man. Which, while good, is no better than what Bowser got on Crono the same year.

2007 Bowser, many thought Ryu would excel in the format and it's possible he did.

2008 Bowser eaten by SFF.

Sora's not a clear cut winner by any means.

Even so, based on that the match is at least somewhat debatable. Sora should be the favorite, but not to the point where you ask the question "why are people picking Bowser!?"

I have Bowser > Sora, but that's a tentative choice - I could definitely change my mind later on. More than anything, I'm leaning towards Bowser just because he's one of my favorite characters.

A random, and probably immensely stupid, question: does Vault Boy have even the slightest chance of winning a match? I have Leon defeating him in my bracket (like virtually everyone else), but I'd much rather see the Boy advance.

Bowser is what we call a "cheap upset pick." I'm really tempted to pick Bowser to pad my upset picks stat but I have to question whether I believe I should be picking him or whether I'm just being biased towards trying to look "edgy." I'll probably end up with Sora, though.

Am I the only person that thinks Auron doesn't stand a chance? Everything we've seen points to Squall getting at least 55% before SFF. Squall is probably the strongest non-NNer and I would back him in a rematch with Vinny easily. Dissidia is just the icing on the cake of what will be a boring match.

Ah, you know it's funny, these people, they go to sleep. They think everything's fine, everything's good... They wake up the next day and they're on fire.

We still don't know if Dissidia had any effects at all though, otherwise we'd be hyping cecil,Tidus and Zidane more, it's still too early to just call Auron/Squall just yet.

fffff, I must have switched round Ryu/Dante at least 4 times by now, the wiki doesn't help either, saying that the last character battle was their best...though DMC4 was kinda fresh back then and SFIV choked recently, but SFII is weak yet Ryu is strong.

damnit, I hate it when people are uber confident about their picks, yet are struggling on things I consider no brainers. Dante has the BoP, but he always seems to choke whenever he does get it, but Leon/Dante is so tempting.....

Yeah, I generally don't change my bracket after my initial runthrough unless I can't find any reason to stick with it anymore. Most of the time, when I switch my bracket, I end up getting it wrong.

For me it's 50/50, my real problem is when i'm totally convinced i did switch but when i look back at my bracket i realize i forgot to change, it's like damnit i knew zelda would beat vivi, so why does my bracket say otherwise.

Squall/Vincent 2005 makes me comfortable enough in Squall. If he could almost beat the FFVII party badass, I think he'll be able to take X's guy.

Not only that, but he almost beat him immediately after Advent Children, before KH2 and before Dissidia. Plus Squall has looked way more impressive than Auron has.
