I switched to Kratos Aurion and don't think I'll be switching back. MGS4 SFF or not, LittleBigPlanet was just a weak game, and I was surprised with Tales of Symphonia's strength. Kratos is that game's most popular character, and I've seen him in action a few times. The Sackboy upset can pay off, but it's not one I trust enough right now.

LBP is aging beautifully, and I think is more mainstream than some TOS character.

Being mainstream didn't help GTA and God of War against ToS in the game contest, and LBP isn't nearly as big as those two.

Yuna > Zack is very possible. Chun Li or Wario, who would you take?

I have Sackboy right now, but I'm betting on some Snake SFF last year and that LBP isn't totally forgotten.

Sackboy is the underdog based on previous performance- agreed. I have seen TOS too- and he has never made it out of the first round. I am just betting on the growth of LBP - whether you think it is a good game or not is irrelevant.

this 12 hour thing is going to wreak havoc on our usual board contests. there is no way Moltar is going to have time to post two sets of writeups a day, for example. the Oracle is pretty much automated, but I'm not sure how the Guru works. I think that's why we haven't seen too much there.

I think a lot of our regulars are suffering from contest fatigue too. you can only do this stuff for so long.

I can tell you right now that my write-ups will be a lot shorter this contest, but that also has to do with there only being two entrants in each poll instead of four.

I don't see why crew writeups would be a problem. Just post both sets for the day before the night match.

Really, Oracle is the only thing that needs to change and I talked to Kax about it and it's a 5 second code change to make the site update twice a day.

So who do you think will get the highest blowout in round 1? Link's probably the favorite, and I'm guessing 5 characters can break 80%: Link, Mario, Zelda, Cloud, and Sephiroth. Also going to guess that no one breaks 85%, which would be a first for a 1v1 contest.

Yuna > Zack is possible, but man, it's hard to bet against the black haired Cloud in that scenario. Zack doubled Zidane and would have (probably) done even better against him in a 1v1. Even if Yuna has that kind of intrinsic strength, Zack is bringing the FFVII hammer of SFF into this.

As for Sackboy, I wouldn't take him over HK-47, and based on Lloyd/HK, Kratos is probably around that area. Figure it's better to go with the known guy in this case.

Yuna/Zack is pretty cool. Zack is more liked, Yuna is more known. I'll be interested to see how that one shakes out. if Zack has a big enough audience, he's got it. if not, he could lose this one badly. this is the match where we find out how legit Zack's popularity is.

It seems like the weaker characters have avoided the noble nine pretty well. Right now I'd say Mario/Falco is most likely because of SFF, but Cloud/Ridley is possible.

It may still be 4 characters a day, but you can't dismiss half of them as fodder who won't be in contention anyway. On the other hand you don't have to sort through a tangled mess of LFF and SFF to get anywhere either.

yeah, sorting through the web is what made old crew writeups so long. for 60% of these matches, you could say everything you needed to say in 2-3 lines. I don't think I would want to extend myself for stuff like Link/Thrall or Snake/Proto Man.

Mario should have the biggest blowout of the round 1, since he should be able to SFF Falco pretty bad. Nobody else has any chance of breaking 85%, but Mario should probably do it - he did get more than 80% on Fox in '07, although the picture wasn't helping Fox there.

My Oracle for Link will be around 85%. Thrall put up about 17% against Ganon/Vergil/Ratchet in a format where people were voting for him out of obligation. Feed him to Link in a pointless match and things will get ugly fast. I wouldn't be surprised if the HYLIAN HAMMER made a run for the high 80s.

Man, Vincent could score the blowout of the contest.
