theres
no reason for it to be obvious that a main character of a FF game would
struggle to beat a character who appears 5 minutes in FFVII When that main character was Cecil (who got tripled by Kirby in 2005, for the record), there was no way he stood ANY chance of beating Zack. None. Of course it was! *winks and ^5s all around* Read any of my pre-contest posts, and I said pretty much the same thing I'm saying now. I never gave Wario a thought of getting first place in that match. Again, that match wasn't about Zack underestimation. It was about Wario overestimation. Wario could barely get 35% against Shadow the Hedgehog, for cryin' out loud. You thought he was going to break 40% against an FFVII character? --- "I can set you free, mate." remember when the bracket first came out, I immediately took Zack to
the semis. Then I checked this topic and asked everyone if Zack >
Mario was crazy. After a couple of days, I decided it was too risky and

So
what exactly makes you so confident that the Pokemon fanbase loves Red
as much as the Pokemon? I've gone to so many different Pokemon chatting
sites (and I'm a pokemon fan myself), and hardly anybody talks about

he's got a huge range, much much bigger than Zack's range was last

nobody talks about zack, but when you see him if you like FF you vote for him cos you remember how awesome he is. you don't talk about red, but hey as soon as he enters the field, those match pics will give him an edge only big boss can hope for. --- Shakes Fist! |

Aside
from the obvious 'main character of RBY' thing, a lot of people love
Red because he's built up to be the greatest trainer of all time. He's
the final boss fight of Gold/Silver, with all the most popular Pokemon
from RBY (Charizard, Blastoise, Venasaur, Pikachu ect.), all of them
about 20 levels higher than yours. Left a big impression on a lot of
people. He doesn't get mentioned a lot, yeah, but whenever he is mentioned I see him get a lot of love. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

As
for Red, I honestly think Mewtwo > Ganondorf is a better pick (than
Red dropping MMX). Pikachu held up better against Samus last year, and
if you're going to bank on SFF wonkyness, you may as well bet on the
cool Pokemon and against Ganon. I am a bit surprised that match is getting zero discussion, although I can kind of understand why. Ganondorf
is going to stomp Mewtwo into the dirt. People seem to be forgetting
how well he and Sephiroth do in polls where they don't have to deal

Nah,
Ganondorf seems to have trouble with any Nintendo character, not just
Link. If it were Pikachu I think that match would be getting a lot more

I guess that makes sense. There are some signs that point to Red at least being decent. 1) He's playable. 2) You fight him in another popular Pokemon game. 3) In a poll with Ocelot, recognizability matters even if Pac-Man just got by and Peach is around his strength (and people supposedly don't care about these guys). 4) Again, what silent main character from a huge game has bombed? --- *is Dranze* Krahen Prophet did a fatality. |
