How strong do you guys see Altair being? Last time he demolished a poll with Guybrush, Lucario and Isaac, before limping through behind the Duke and finishing well behind Zack and Link. He's had a well received game since though. Liquid's presumably a step too far and he'll be going out round one. Oh well.

Altair isn't the star of AC2, but I could see Altair getting a boost because of it.

I think Altair and Drake are going to get big boosts compare to the last contest just because of how well received their games are.

So many iffy matches this year. That's the fun of it though!

Alucard/Magus and Sub-Zero/Tidus are absolutely the toughest Round 1 matches for me.

Magus should be the favorite, especially with the CT fanbase, but at this point I'm honestly wondering if Board 8 wants him to lose. Is he the anti-Frog? Subs/Tidus is just a brain crusher.

one thing i don't like too much, is how the tough matches of round 1 have a small penalty, because the winners will get crushed in round 2.

Considering that Magus blew around a 2200 vote lead to Sandbag last year with the ASV and Alucard/Magus is a day match, I'm not too confident in Magus winning this one.

Sora has looked nuts recently. I'd never take Char/Kratos over him. Dante/Ryu is a switcheroo of what happened in 2003, and I'm going with Squall.

I'd say my two biggest late-game upsets right now are Sonic>Kirby and Snake>Sephiroth. Neither of those sound too crazy.

I think Auron/Squall got argued enough for years. Everyone's got a side for that one.

Ryu/Dante, despite being two upper midcarders with similar strength, isn't too hard of a match.

Sora/Bowser/Charizard/Kratos is getting talked about.

I think Magus will be able to funnel a great deal of his first 4-hours vote into his day matches. That part of it is as much an early vote as a night vote.

Actually, I think the day polls will be able to draw surprisingly close to 24-hour polls in votals. Pretty much everyone in North America is able to vote between 12 noon and 12 midnight, and the first few hours of that will be evening in Europe, allowing them to vote too.

You could do hourly trend charts if you wanted to, though you could do your normal time period trend charts for the last 2 rounds, since they would be 24 hour matches.

I'd be pretty surprised if Sora lost that division, except perhaps to Bowser. And x-stats will be a lot more useful this year than under 4-ways. As said earlier, in the vast majority of cases, going from a 24-hour poll to a 12-hour poll will change the results by less than 2%, which is within the error margin for x-stats under ideal conditions anyway. In practice, the trends will shift as people change their voting times to accomodate voting in both polls.....and generally the effect should be even less than that 2%.

2005 Bowser and 2005 Ganondorf are worthless for comparisons. Villains Contest high and all that. I'd be surprised if Ganondorf beat Auron nowadays.

the more i look at the jenova division the more i think, "man this has all the ingredients to be a classic division, now why the hell is the placement so wrong".
Tifa vs Vincent damnit, vincent probably most definetly wins, but it'd be a fair deal closer and slightly debatable.

Yeah, I think the only match in that division that Sora can lose is against Bowser because it's a night match.

Kratos, if powered by GoW III hype (or would it be out by then?), could definitely be a concern, but in that match Sora switches to day matches, so I still like his chances to win.

Auron should handle that rematch. I'd take Auron over Sonic 1v1 after last year, but I'm still not sure about Ganondorf. I just don't trust him; I could pick five guys I'd take to break the Noble 9 before him pretty easily.
