I say anyone who's made it during the two updates has a good chance since many characters made it to the vote-in without any support. Ezio also has a pretty good chance with nominations opening during the release of Assassin's Creed II though I don't see the others maybe Lilith. Plus there are new characters that were already on the list before and haven't made it and there are some that could defy the odds.

Wow, CATS is dead last and Thrall passed Peach.

I've been predicting Top 2 the entire time, and I'm sticking with that. It'd suck we'd miss out on Liquid Snake and Vault Boy, but other than that and maybe Thrall we wouldn't have any big losses.

Speaking of which, what does this mean for Arthas' chances of making the bracket? Is he a lock or did he miss the cut entirely?

The other 31 characters are at a bit of a disadvantage since they would have to go from missing the cut to getting a half decent seed which would require a new game over the year and some are even worse off since they could be considered to have been the flavour of the year and are quickly forgotten.

Besides Charizard I don't see anyone accomplishing that task.

The SSBM ASV is the best in the business, but on weekends its day vote is a lot weaker- the price you pay for not having 6 more hours of night vote in the DSV.

Thoughts:
There's a lot of folks that were 12/13 or better over the last two years in that mix. That works out to 40 (12 seeds and lower) or 32 (13 seeds and lower) making it in...but 6 divides neither of those. So I'm expecting 6x6 to fill out half the 12 seeds and all the lower seeds at this point.

Top 4 means you've got 24, divisible by 6 and you've got seeds 13-16 for all divisions.

Right, I'm an idiot. Top 4 does make a lot of sense, but I think top 6 is still possible.

There was also a surprising lack of 15/16 seeds...Hm. Suppose we had a tag team tournament, but the top two seeds didn't get partners?
