Actually, Tales of Symphonia has only had 4 characters, and one of those was in the Villains Contest, so that hardly counts! But losing to Ridley is never a good thing. For the record, Kratos Aurion did better on Diablo than Ridley did!

So Kratos > Protoman!

Oh man, I had TOTALLY forgotten Ridley is Ninty. That plus having Doc sapping votes too (yeah, like two votes, but still) makes me feel good about Protoman. We always thought he'd probably be Low Midcarder strength, and if he does that, he'll probably be the most successful "new" character of the year.

I'll buy Jecht when I see him perform normally. He doesn't share a fanbase with other characters in the poll like Ninty characters (Since Kain is Old Square and Sho couldn't be less connected to FF picless if you tried), which is why I believe he's beasting like this.

That said, if he does come out and impress come bracket time I'll be cheering for him all the way through. Dude is awesome.

Not much you can take out of this poll, but last time we saw Protoman he was possibly SFF'd.

Mega Man has still been on a slump lately and I'm not sure if the characters even jumped out of it yet. Proto probably got near around expected on Zero anyway. if Jecht is even a tad bit stronger than Sin it'll at least be a close match.

We've never seen any evidence that Mega Man and Nintendo SFF each other, except possibly Link/Mega Man, and I'm willing to call that an anomaly and an exception rather than the rule.

Bayonetta is looking better than she did last night. I was hoping she'd get locked into the contest, as this is exactly NOT the reason she was rallied in the first place. I hope Allen pulls some strings; he's gotta realize this.

Considering he's less than 1% away from 10%, if you remove any option, then he's going to break 10%. If you replace Ridley with a weaker option, he probably breaks 10%. SFF's got nothing to do with that.

Seriously though, the only thing about today that surprises me today is that he's losing to Bub without obvious 4chan support. He'd be doing well to beat Bub if Ridley wasn't in the poll, too -- it's a long stretch to argue Doc Louis is getting SFF'd by Ridley...but I can always blame racism, so it's cool.

The only character to get any benefit from Brawl as far as I can see was Snake. Olimar and Diddy are playable examples that people don't care if you were in it or not.

Definitely don't help a non-playable boss.

That's uncertain though, since we never saw Diddy and only saw Olimar face Mario in 2003 pre-SSBB. It's certainly hard to imagine them being much weaker than they already are, but we don't really have anything to prove they didn't improve with SSBB and -- given the size of their other games and SSBB -- it's also hard to imagine being in the game didn't help them either.

Whatever though, it's a hard point to argue either way and they're weak as hell regardless.

UI like hte way Jecht looks here. Hem ay not be the new Sephiroth, but hes looking better than Kefka. I mean Sub-zero is the sole fightinggame character and Jecht has to deal with a full poll's worth of other RPG characters.

They arent hurting him /much/ but its hard to imagine the support, say, Etna, is getting going to anyone else but him.

Hmm...after being banned, I've gotten busy with school, but since I graduate this month, I should have some time coming up to pay attention to the contests again. Here are my thoughts on the bracket though, assuming that it's not tag teams. Sorry if this has been done before.

If these polls are being used to determine the lower seeds, logically it stands that an even number of entrants should be getting in per poll. They could be utilized to get the 3 bottom seeds per division, I guess, but an even number seems better. In that case, 4 seems like the most likely number to get in per poll based on the amount of entrants in each one. The entrants in each poll appear to be among the level of those who got 7/8 seeds in 2005, so I would venture a guess that this will end after the 4th poll, thus providing us with the 7 and 8 seeds for a bracket similar to that in 2005. Based on this we can tell, most likely that:

7 Seeds:
Missingno
The Boss
Frog
Rikku
Sub-Zero
Jecht
TBA
TBA

8 Seeds:
Axel
Lightning
Liquid Snake
Big Daddy
Ridley
Spy/Protoman
TBA
TBA

If we get any more polls, than the chances are we are getting tag teams, or some other format with a much larger group than 64.

Once all the polls are finished, we could probably actually get a pretty clear picture of who the other 48 entrants are based on who did and did not show up in the play-in polls. Just some thoughts.

You know you don't have much of an argument when you only quote part of someone's point. Hell, you didn't even copy the entire second sentence of my post. My point is, Ridley is the only Nintendo character in the poll (Doc Louis is and always will be useless turbofodder) and Spy has the benefit of a niche fanbase which really helps in a 12-way poll.

Now let's forget this and start basing projections on the results. Jecht vs Fox, who ya got?

Maybe Rikku/Protoman? Though they didn't make it last year I suppose...

This leads me to believe it might only be 64. How could at the very least Liquid and Subby be on the bubble?
