I
thought about what SBAllen has done as far as grouping the 2 BioShock
guys together, the 3 pokémon yesterday and the 2 MGS characters and
it's to achieve a diverse character range, not necessarily the
strongest. Sure, you could put 3 pokémon characters in 3 polls and get them all through, or you could open up the contest to a wider range of series'. I understand why he's done it that way but at the same time, if Big Daddy doesn't get in because Andrew Ryan screwed him over, that's a bit sucky. --- :/ |

Archer is from one of those visual novel/porn games. sc2k5 is down at the moment, but I think Big Daddy had a pretty good day vote. I'd say that this poll is overall much stronger than yesterday's, looking at Liquid Snake vs. The Boss's percentage. Liquid eats the Boss alive. --- xyzzy |

Who the **** is Archer? I never even heard of his game before. One, maybe two people were very vocal about it making some people think he was a big shot. Maybe
he's doing this as a way of seeding or something. Have groups of 24
characters, seed the upper half by number of noms, seed the lower half
by these polls. Then match them together for a tag-team. Ridiculous, but you never know. --- Not Wylvane |

HaRRicH | Posted 12/8/2009 9:30:22 PM | message detail |
I know, but Olimar lost to Banjo...so it's still worth stressing. I posted this in my Doc-topic, but it looks like even less-nominated characters from the board got in today's poll than yesterday's. We saw Dan Hibiki, Jigglypuff, and Yoshimitsu yesterday when they were all in the top ten on our board...whereas the most nominated character from our board in today's poll is Archer (13th), somebody with certainly no casual support. I wonder if this will be a continuing trend of grabbing guys we supported less in future polls or of this is being done randomly. --- Please nominate DOC LOUIS from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! Frog vs. Rikku: +27, +36, -2, +17, +6, +27 Frog's percentage: 54.90% Rikku's probably more likely to win, although we've had so few votes in so far that the results right now don't mean nearly as much as they normally would 30 minutes into a match. The nice thing about FF/CT's new day vote is that Frog really just has to survive until 9 AM or so. If he's still up then, he can hang with Rikku the rest of the match. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |
transience | Posted 12/8/2009 9:31:48 PM | message detail |
this
is just random. I really think we're reading too much into these. as
someone said earlier, nobody takes Frog to beat Liquid unless MGS in
general just fell off the earth (which wouldn't be impossible given the
2008 that they had) --- xyzzy |

KamikazePotato | Posted 12/8/2009 9:33:26 PM | message detail |
It's
kind of depressing to me that Big Daddy is destroying Andrew Ryan so
badly. Andrew Ryan is the main antagonist of the game, extremely
quotable, well-developed character. Big Daddy is a recurring enemy.
You'd think that (especially without pictures) the hardcore Bioshock
fanbase would support the former at least a little bit more than if it
were a normal contest setting. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |
charmander6000 | Posted 12/8/2009 9:33:30 PM | message detail |

the write-ins unless the board looks somewhere else I can see the top

missed the last two or three contests. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Krahenprophet for winning the guru contest |

So uh... I did take a look at the geolocation for yesterday, and it's a huge mess. As far as I can see the highlights are: South America like Missigno the most, followed by North America and Oceania. then it falls off in Europe and does terrible in Asia Lightning is least popular in North America and is awesome in Asia. Europe, Asia and Oceania like Yoshimitsu while he is loathed in the Americas. Mudkip does best in Oceania (jokes generally do for some reason) and decent in Europe and North America. The others don't care about him at all The Boss Did far better in South America then anywhere else. Asia and Europe also care more about her then the others. Toad did adequate in North America and terrible everywhere else --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to sig Krahenprophet and die. |

Ngamer64 | Posted 12/8/2009 4:06:20 PM | message detail And now for a BOLD PREDICTION If tonight's poll is these same options but pared down (as in Miss advanced into the bracket and bottom options Yoshi and Jiggly cut out), then we're looking at a 64 character bracket. Most likely with 60 locked in already and these Play-Ins deciding the final 4 spots. If tonight's poll features 12 entirely new options, it will be because 96 were locked to start, meaning we're back to a 128 character bracket. (And almost certainly tag teams.) I'm... kind of leaning toward it being the latter at the moment. But I'd sure prefer it to be the former! If I was correct in that prediction, then this season we will be indeed be seeing a 128 character Tag Team bracket much like the one I simulated over at http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=52514344 I imagine SB will assign seeds based on how well these characters performed in their Play-In polls, which would mean we've just decided the following: #13 seed - Missingno #14 - The Boss #15 - Axel #15 - Lightning #16 - Scorpion #16 - Mudkip Wow, got to love the chances of whatever #1 seed gets paired up with Mudkip. It's going to be very nice having that kind of 4chan rally power packed in, sure wouldn't expect a nice boost like that from the last character to make the cut. Based on the results 40 minute in, here are the seedings we're setting up with our Day 2 results. #13 - Frog #13 - Rikku #14 - Liquid Snake #14 - Midna #15 - Big Daddy #16 - Pac-Man Dang, I'd hate to be the 2 seed saddled with Big Daddy. On the other hand, Pac-Man's old school respect vote could make a big difference, if placed in a group with 3 modern characters. --- KrahenProphet is the King of the Gurus! Frog
with a 208 vote lead and 55.38% against Rikku at the end of the power
hour. It's still anyone's game, and Frog's got another 3 hours before
he falls off that cliff waiting in the dark at 4 AM while FF characters
gain superpowers. After morning reaches all the way to the West Coast
tomorrow, these two will probably have very similar trends for the
remainder of the match. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |
