L-Block
was clearly more important than Zack, but that doesn't make his run
more enjoyable. For me at least, the 2008 contest will be remembered
for these things above all: 1. Zack Fair 2. Snake going on steroids in the final. 3. Crono/Vincent 3 --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |

Zack
beat Wario, Zidane, Altair and Duke Nukem. he was pretty much a
non-issue. he had a nice match with Mario, I guess, but it was the most
stacked match of all time against Mario and in Zack's favour. and he
still lost. Zack probably wasn't a top 5 story of 2008. and that contest sucked. --- xyzzy |

That one match was huge, though. If L-Block makes it through there, it's on a roll at least until Steroid Snake thanks to LFF. Samus/Vincent/L-Block/Crono Link/Mario/Samus/L-Block Link/L-Block/Snake/Cloud I guess you can argue Zack over Mario would have had a similar effect (Samus gets by Crono, but I doubt she changes Link > Cloud), but I think the rat's match had a much larger point swing. Plus the rat/Alucard was close thanks to the Captain, and Arthas/Ike was close thanks to the rat, and it played a part, however small, in Crono/Vincent II. issue was how many people took him to lose to those characters, and
continued to deny his strength even as he put up impressive numbers

Yeah,
but the only thing we remember Pikachu for in 2008 was beating L-Block.
He's the last character you'd recall for being in Crono/Vincent III
(not II!). Again, it was quite the accomplishment, especially with how
Pikachu suddenly turned from a hated heel into the savior of GameFAQs

like I said before, Zack was a big story because of his buildup. Did we
talk about any character pre-contest last year more than Zack? Or at

Honestly,
the fact that Pikachu vs. L-Block was such an important match only
makes the whole contest look bad. I'm not really sure it was all that
important though. It wasn't just Pikachu rising to the occasion;
L-Block looked like he'd lost a step from round 1 and 2, or at least
hadn't gained a step. To repeat his 2007 run, indeed, even to advance

still want to see Magus/Squall. It'll be a nice warm-up for Squall's
challenge of Megaman or Sonic, and an opponent Magus presumably can't

Saxton
Hale has never appeared in the game. At all. He's appeared in
promotional artwork created by the developers, but never the game
itself. Missingno is actually much more of a character (in my eyes) than any other joke we've had. You can catch it. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

the way, I know most of us don't care anymore about the CrispyGamer
tourney going on...but for those still interested, the Final Four is
SSBM, HL2, WoW, and Halo. The vote totals also easily doubled; R3's
most popular polls only barely broke 2,000 while R4's pols had between

don't think Axel will be able to close the gap. He's been slowing down
over the past 2 hours and the rate of incoming votes just goes down
from here. He's in the top 3 so he's probably safe even if he can't
