hopefully
this is the last we'll see of these 12 guys. SB should take the top 2
or 3 or whatever he wants the cutoff to be and then just move on to the
next grouping. I don't want to watch another day of Jiggypuff vs. Alex
Mercer vs. Scorpion vs. Lightning. --- xyzzy |
KamikazePotato | Posted 12/8/2009 3:15:12 PM | message detail |
The number of open feedback tickets is still rising. I sent mine where there were about 50, now there are 76. Get to it, Bacon! --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |
Ngamer64 | Posted 12/8/2009 3:25:30 PM | message detail |
That's
a fair point Albi. Lightning and Alex were never added to the suggested
nomination form, making their path to a top 72 seed very difficult.
Making the Contest without getting onto that form has been done before,
but both Hogger and Sandbag just barely made the cut last year (as 15
seeds). Even with fewer total noms this year having lowered the bar for
rallies, it's difficult to imagine Alex having outdone Sandy by THAT
much. --- KrahenProphet is the King of the Gurus! All Hail! thengamer.com/guru | thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com |

I'm
really surprised and glad that Alex Mercer is doing as well as he is;
Prototype is an awesome game that I sunk too much time into. Once you
level up your powers to ridiculous levels the game is just intense. Now I just hope that Nathan Drake will do better this year because both of those characters I really liked (if you haven't played Uncharted: go now). --- ...Just repeat to yourself / It's just a show / I should really just relax... |
KleenexTissue50 | Posted 12/8/2009 3:37:22 PM | message detail |
Nathan Drake is someone definitely worth seeing again, I think. He's probably come a long way from 7% 2 years ago. --- If you're seeing this sig, I'm not on my computer! |

Oh man, that was last year. Who was it two years ago? ...oh, Nathan Hale. Right. --- If you're seeing this sig, I'm not on my computer! |
transients | Posted 12/8/2009 3:41:07 PM | message detail |
I
don't have high expectations for Drake. he should improve on being
awful, but that'll mean he's now almost fodder line material instead of
being someone of great worth. Altair is his ceiling, I supoise. --- xyzzy |

supoise what the hell --- xyzzy |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/8/2009 4:14:29 PM | message detail |
I
don't expect much from Drake. Nothing stands out about the guy, and
he's still a PS3-exclusive character (unless I'm mistaken on that
point). He'll be better than last year, but he'll still be fodder. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |

stands out for Uncharted fans, but it seems like Uncharted 2 didn't
really hit our audience well despite being huge everywhere else. --- xyzzy |

Axel is 350 votes behind The Boss and .05% away from hitting 10% here. Gotta love that KH ASV. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
voltch | Posted 12/8/2009 4:28:19 PM | message detail |
358/2 is having some kind of effect, but as soon as Lightning is announced for KHIII she'll be squall tier. and Snow will be uber strong, because all hardcore anime fans will go hey it's that VA from Haruhi, why does he always play the handsome guys? --- Shakes Fist! |
Zylo the wolf | Posted 12/8/2009 4:28:34 PM | message detail |
Gotta love that KH ASV. Actually that's the only thing I really hate about these polls, any character needs to have at least a 5000 lead on any KH releated character to be safe once teh kiddies arrive.... --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. KrahenProfit > Me |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/8/2009 4:33:17 PM | message detail |
From: Zylo the wolf | #267 KH's ASV isn't THAT good. Even against Frog, Axel swung a little more than 2000 votes. In fact, you usually won't see vote swings any bigger than that ever. There aren't many you can name. --- "I can set you free, mate." "My freedom was forfeit long ago!" |
KamikazePotato | Posted 12/8/2009 4:34:14 PM | message detail |
Bacon responded. Q. I like the idea, just curious on some of the specifics. How many sets will there be? How many from each set will move on? A. You'll find out. Bacon certainly responded. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |
KleenexTissue50 | Posted 12/8/2009 4:34:50 PM | message detail |
I dunno, Axel's been able to swing like what...7-800 here on Lightning? With 12 people in the poll. That's pretty impressive. --- If you're seeing this sig, I'm not on my computer! |

Frog
and Axel were playing with under 40% of the votes, so in a 1v1, Frog
might have needed a 5000 vote lead. But then, CT has just about the
worst day vote ever, so it's not entirely KH's fault. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/8/2009 4:41:42 PM | message detail |
Eh, it's hard to say. With MC/Frog, the total swing for MC was 3000 votes in a 90,000 vote poll. --- "But you have been given freedom. Freedom to be...outside." "I am lightning...the rain transformed." |
Team Rocket Elite | Posted 12/8/2009 4:42:41 PM | message detail |
I dunno, Axel's been able to swing like what...7-800 here on Lightning? With 12 people in the poll. That's pretty impressive. Axel has swung 747 votes on Lightning and 525 on The Boss. It's not bad at all considering they are playing with around 16k votes and Axel still has a few more hours to work with. --- "Those whose memories fade seek to carve them in their hearts..." Eh, it's hard to say. With MC/Frog, the total swing for MC was 3000 votes in a 90,000 vote poll. CT had a decent day vote in 2004 though. Agreed that it's not clear how Samus might have impacted Frog and Axel's day votes. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |

The
fourway thing in the games contest showed that Bacon doesn't really
like us, so I'm not surprised he's being tight-lipped about this new
format. There's going to be a backlash no matter what it is. --- RPGuy netbook remix |

From: red sox 777 | #277 Losing 3000 votes to the Chief is not "decent." CT's day vote was less horrible, maybe, but it still wasn't good. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
red sox 777 | Posted 12/8/2009 4:53:41 PM | message detail |
Losing
less than 1% to Mario qualifies as decent, I think. Yeah, Frog and
Magus have always had worse day votes than Crono, but the point is that
all their day votes deteriorated by a pretty large amount over the 2-3
years after 2004. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |

From: red sox 777 | #284 Considering we get more than 90,000 votes and Frog wouldn't get much of a second night vote this time, yeah, he'd be dead in the water. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |

I hope we have a day 2 with 12 new characters...SO THAT DAN MCNEELY WILL STILL HAVE A CHANCE! Kidding. Even though I nominated him and pretty much exchanged all my other nominations for him, I know there is no way he would survive in a 12-character poll. Maybe with a picture, but not on name alone. I couldn't be happier about Missingno though. He is beyond awesome. |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/8/2009 5:07:50 PM | message detail |
I wonder how someone like Zack Fair would do in a poll like this. I have a feeling he might be on the borderline. --- "Hold on a minute! That testimony stinks!" "Witness! You can't just say 'Hello' and expect us to get anywhere! I want you to testify!" |
red sox 777 | Posted 12/8/2009 5:09:58 PM | message detail |
Zack
would rock this poll. He's just too far above anyone here, and the only
one who might be able to beat him in this kind of 12-way is Missingno. Besides, Zack was THE highlight of last year's contest, the most fun newcomer we've had in years. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |

300 votes to go before Axel catches The Boss. And I know Zack would probably win this poll, but I'd still like to see how he does because he's still a wild card. --- "Stay with me until the end. Please." "Not until the end. Always." |

For
some reason, I don't think of the games in the Games Contest as
"newcomers" because it was just the second one, and they were five
years apart. Technically, RBY was, but still. RBY wasn't fun for me though! Stop beating my favorite games! --- "The great GF...Bahamut." "...GF? I...? Using my powers...It is you humans...I fear..." |

Better
than Zack beating a bunch of characters no one cares about (and Zidane)
before screwing up his big upset over Mario, which allowed Link to win
the contest! --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

From: KamikazePotato | #293 Wait, Link wouldn't have won the contest if Zack beat Mario? I don't remember this! I
think I enjoyed Zack's run a little more than RBY's, just because I
predicted Zack's path exactly, while I let the board influence me and
didn't follow my instincts in predicting RBY's matches in my bracket. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |

PiGuy96 | Posted 12/8/2009 5:20:09 PM | message detail |
Zack had an great run...but he really didn't beat anybody notable. (He certainly showed that he can...but
he didn't get a chance to.) And it wasn't completely out there to take
him out of his division, because other than Link, since everyone else
there was pretty crappy. Beating Mario would have been a hell of an
accomplishment, but he didn't. Snake/Kirby/the rat were more interesting, as was MC (in a bad way), and perhaps Mewtwo and Big Boss. As for newcomers, L-Block is easily the most important newcomer of the fourway era, and probably ever. --- RPGuy netbook remix |
PiGuy96 | Posted 12/8/2009 5:22:54 PM | message detail |
Oh,
and RBY obviously, but I don't really think of games either. It's
shocking that what is quite possibly the 3rd strongest game on the site
(though it wouldn't have been then) was left out of the first contest.
That RBY did what it did why being hamstrung by Ocarina just makes it
more impressive. --- RPGuy netbook remix |

Pikachu
was only interesting in 2008 because of one match. Obviously, it was a
huge match, but still. None of his other three matches were really all
that great (at least not because he was involved in it anyway). --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
