Also, I'm not sure if Yoshimitsu being in this poll is good news or bad news for the NRT. He was the least nominated of the five, I think. I don't know if it's going to be this same group of people tomorrow with some options removed or if it's going to be a completely different set of characters.

I must admit that I like this poll idea though. It's pretty neat. I just wish I knew exactly what Bacon was planning to do with this.

Oh and before I forget, LOL Raiden

Most of us are thinking it'll be several days of different groups of characters, with the top 4 or 6 each day making the bracket. Something like 96 of the characters are locked in and we choose the final 32.

After a bit of searching on 4chan, I see that someone made a post there about voting for Mudkip. It was at posted at 8:25:15 AM and at 8:27 AM, Mudkip got a 8.12% update. After that, the insane updates for Mudkip started. Here are the later updates for Mudkip (starting from 8:32 AM): 16.08%, 17.71%, 13.12%, 14.10%, 14.54%, 16.90%, 10.59%, 14.10%, 15.07%, 14.81%, 12.88%, 17.25% (most recent at 9:27 AM)

It's amazing that Missingno is doing so well considering he's relying entirely on name recognition. You think if this was L-Block's first poll, he'd do as well here without a pic? He's got real legitimate strength.

Now imagine Missingno with a pic. That should be insane.

Wow missingno took quite the drop overnight, it should still win either way.

1. Missingno
2. The Boss
3. Lightning
4. Axel
5. Scorpion
6. Mudkip
7. Toad
8. Alex Mercer
9. Raiden
10. Dan Hibiki
11. Yoshimitsu
12. Jigglypuff

What happened to Raiden? The Boss must be doing a number on him. Scorpion, I have no idea what to think besides joke voted Missingno he was likely the strongest character of the bunch and right now he's in a losing battle against Axel.

As for future polls, anyone that wasn't in the top 10 in the rally topic and needed a massive board rally is probably not on here. For those that are in the top 10 the only ones that might avoid a write-in vote are Prinny and Charizard and even they relied on massive board support.

I hope SB does this like how I did the game-NRT a long time ago: rerun the poll four times, with each day removing the winner and two biggest losers. We would see Missingno advance while Jiggly and Yoshimitsu be removed for a nine-way poll with less Nintendo/Pokemon/fighter-LFF/SFF, gradually remove the Square/MGS-SFF, help ensure we're getting the most wanted characters (not necessarily strongest), plus the more we focus on these characters the less likely we'll see other characters we rallied for be at risk in other polls. For as cool of a poll as this is, I don't want to see lots of characters "on the edge" or whatever unless lots of characters from each poll (more than half) make it into the contest and this is used just to eliminate some that aren't very good choices.

Just saying, I'm not going to like it if Doc's in a poll with any other Nintendo character, especially if Little Mac is also on the edge (and after seeing some familiar faces in the poll today, he very well could be).

Also, just gonna throw this out there...does anybody think MGS3-n-gang has gotten stronger over the years? It clearly looked stronger this year in BGE2 than it did in 2004's GotY-polls and it seems like Big Boss was stronger than before last year (if it wasn't for Raiden, he would have beaten Sonic instead of Kirby). Perhaps The Boss has grown a bit in strength as well?

Woo Lightning.

Probably gonna end up MissingNo. > Boss > Axel > Lightning at the end of the day, so let's hope the top 4 get in this !

Wonder if Axel can actually pass Boss though, not sure how diluted the ASV will be in a poll with 12 options.

Man, I wake up, and find...THIS. Words cannot describe my feelings here. On one hand, I'm loling hysterically at Missingno. being here and crushing the competition (I love that glitch, Rare Candies and Master Balls were sooooo useful). On the other hand, seeing The Boss winning is odd, and the battle between Axel and Scorpion is interesting. Oh, and once again KH acts like a completely independent entity. This is certainly one poll for which to take out the popcorn.

PS: Speaking of which, could somebody post the mjpop .gif?

I know Wylvane's probably just joking around, but this Missingno thing could not possibly be SFF'd. except maybe by Mudkip, but no one with an IQ above 24 found that funny in the first place.

I know I'm totally opening myself up to irony here, but the Mudkip stuff was amazing when it first happened. The Pokemon in a poll here was nothing special, but 4chan the week or two after that story originally popped up was legendary.

Nah, MissingNo. are safe to catch. The Hall of Fame will get messed up, but no data will get permanently corrupted. If you catch a level 0 'M and try to store withdraw it from the PC, the game might lock up, but the data won't get messed up.

Psh. I caught Missingno too, you just have to know the rules that go with catching him.

1. If Missingno gets stored in your PC, he will screw things up. So, when catching him, have an empty slot in your party.
2. Missingno can be used tin battle with without any repercussions, although he can only use Sky Attack, Water Gun, and Water Gun.
3. Once Missingno receives any amount of exp, he will level up to Level 100 (even if he was already over Level 100) and evolve into Kanghaskan (results may vary).
4. One Missingno has 'evolved', storing him in the PC is safe.

If you're an MGS fan, you know the difference between The Boss and Big Boss.

Plus, Big Boss is popular because of MGS3, so if you like Big Boss, you've probably played MGS3, which means you know The Boss.

Hmm, Axel's about 50 ahead of where he was 2 hours ago against Boss. Don't know whether he lost some before 3 and then gained it all back and more or not though, which makes a difference as to his chances of passing her. I think he'll probably do it though- unlike Nintendo, Kingdom Hearts only gets stronger as the ASV goes on and that strength continues right on into the SNV.

Axel's really surprising me here. I'd have figured he'd be turbofodder levels, and his 30% on Mega Man was just a result of KH2 being so recent. Unless the spinoff games have given him staying power (assuming he's in them, I stay away from that garbage franchise).

Also, anybody find it odd that Toad was specified as being in "SMB2" while noone else was given a specific game (aside from Lightning, but that's to be expected)

Hey NGamer, I was playing around on the Wiki (good stuff right there) and fond myself drawn to follow Pokémon R/B/Y's astonishing path in BGE2.

Would it be possible to implement into all the contest matches an "in the next round" link somewhere prominent to see what happened in the next round to the character/game(s) that won the match you're currently looking at?

And by the same token, a "previous round", though that would require two links, one for each feeder match. With for example "Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow and Majora's Mask in the Previous Round" and "Metal Gear Solid and Pokemon Gold/Silver in the Previous Round"
---
Just a thought.

Yes, Carvey and I have had talks on this subject, and in fact he even began putting those "Next Round" links into place last year. For an example see

But he must got gotten bored, as he didn't finish '08 or bring those over to BGE2. I'll talk to him about it.

And now for a

BOLD PREDICTION

If tonight's poll is these same options but pared down (as in Miss advanced into the bracket and bottom options Yoshi and Jiggly cut out), then we're looking at a 64 character bracket. Most likely with 60 locked in already and these Play-Ins deciding the final 4 spots.

If tonight's poll features 12 entirely new options, it will be because 96 were locked to start, meaning we're back to a 128 character bracket. (And almost certainly tag teams.)

I'm... kind of leaning toward it being the latter at the moment. But I'd sure prefer it to be the former!

I'm pretty sure it'll be the latter, because some of these characters seem kinda odd to be on the edge of a 64 entry contest. I mean seriously, a character not even on the nom list and doesnt even have a game out got enough noms to be on the edge of 64 entries? I find that hard to believe
