Yes, Lightning did cut The Boss on that update. Since The Boss has taken the lead over Lightning, Lightning has gotten 3 cuts on The Boss so far.

My initial reaction was 60 characters locked, 4 days of play-ins to decide the final spots (only the #1 finisher advances). But I guess it would make sense to be 96 locked, 6 days of play-ins to decide the final 36 spots (top 6 from each match advance). Only problems with that are

* devoting 6 days to the Contest, a full 5 weeks before bracket battles even start? maybe this isn't shocking from a guy who gives us 16 days of GotY polls, however...

* 96 characters got more noms than Raiden/Scorpion/Jiggly/Dan/Lightning and the apparently hugely rallied Missingno? color me surprised

* given a pool of 72 characters, how do you possibly decide that grouping all three Pokemon and both MGS options together is a good idea?

Hmm, perhaps Tag Teams are back on the table after all. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in 22 hours.

The save file in my copy of Blue was permanently corrupted years ago, and I've been blaming that ****ing pixelated mess for years. I'll defer to your knowledge - should I look at another culprit?

To my knowledge, seeing Missingno. doesn't do any permanent damage other than messing with the Hall of Fame. However, it's been years since I've messed with Missingno. so I might be remembering things wrong and it's also possible that new information about Missingno. may have come out since then.

I voted for The Boss. Pretty much, Raiden is awesome, but The Boss is really really awesome, and I'm sure great female characters will be underrepresented, so more incentive.

hmm, The Boss should die pretty hard in the daylight but she's got a good enough lead here that she should hold on. the only one that really has a chance is Scorpion who should do well in the day. can't see Lightning holding up great, though she does have the Final Fantasy name listed next to her.

Missingno seems to be stabilizing right now and is really picking up the pace of its gains on The Boss since the start of morning vote at 6:00 AM EST. Missingno's lead on The Boss only went from 1232 to 1289 with the dead zone. Now that the morning vote is in progress, Missingno's lead has went up from 1289 to 1508 (as of right now).

As for Lightning, she has won two whole hours on The Boss and appears to be on track to win a third hour over The Boss. Lightning won 5:00-6:00 AM and 6:00-7:00 AM over The Boss so far.

I think 4chan is stuffing for Mudkip here. Mudkip's last 3 updates were 16.08%, 17.71%, and 13.12% updates. During those 3 updates, Mudkip went from 7.89% to 8.12%.

Exactly. I didn't vote for my favorite character in this poll. I don't know how everyone else is viewing this poll, but it's not strictly structured as a "Vote for your favorite character" poll. Taking this as a barometer of contest strength is like taking that "Which character would you most want to see in Brawl?" poll seriously. Sure, this one now is probably more accurate than the Brawl one, but the point still stands, I think.

And I wonder how he's going to do this. Different characters every day or a slow process of elimination of these twelve?

Mudkip is making big cuts into Scorpion's lead. At 8:27 AM, Scorpion's lead maxed out at 364. Mudkip is still keeping up these insane updates and over half of Scorpion's lead has already vanished.
