the thing with FF and MGS is that none of the games changed gaming or
were very important to it. So why not go with the universally higher

How about MGS2 was overhyped to hell and back while MGS4 was a big step towards the PS3 revival? and neither do they. I'm pretty sure that they know enough about their own site to know what their readers prefer. I'll
say that none of the FF/MGS-games this decade meant to their series
what GTA3 meant to the GTA-series, but that's because they had their
break-out game last decade (FF7, MGS1) and it's hard to have your
second most important game mean as much as another big series' most
important game. MGS2 had better reviews, but it's still been accepted
as a love/hate-game since its release and we have our contest has
evidence (though loose in the overall-sense) that reviews don't make
MGS2 the most popular MGS-game this decade -- in fact, it's probably

Because
their voices carry more weight then a typical gamer. Someone who plays
games for a living and plays many different games can more easily
compare how good games really are to eachother then regular people who
just buy a couple games a year. Its just like movies; the typical
people love crappy comedies like White Chicks, while the people who
actually watch movies for a living know those kinds of movies are crap. Reviewers can be just as biased. Have you ever thought of what if the same popular game was produced, but with different names/character models would it get the same score? Killer 7 over Smash Bros though. I can understand FFX since they have
the one series quota, and FFXII is a bette game afterall, but Killer 7

It also looks like the "Game Trust" will only be deciding the first round now instead of all the matches up to the Elite Eight. This, combined with the knowledge that Metacritic is more responsible for their seeding than their personal tastes, makes the contest look more exciting now. Dragon
Age is putting on a decent showing, and NSMBW is doing as expected, and
MW2 is of course winning the poll. But of course, since there's no
Zelda, FF, MGS, or Smash Bros games in the poll, it shouldn't be
surprising that "none of the above" is outright winning. GotY's going to be so boring this year. Most of the consoles are predictable, and the strongest games are multiplatform anyway. Plus a huge portion of websites are going to pick MW2 anyway, like 80% minimum. Oh well, 2010 should be good at least. Yeah, games like Galaxy 2 and ME2 won't be strong on GameFAQs, but considering their prequels are two of my three favorite games this gen, I still look forward to them. Plus I have a feeling that there will likely be a game or two we don't know about yet that could seriously threaten FF13 on GameFAQs for 2010 GotY and sweep a lot of other GotY awards. MW2 still looks good to take GOTY this year. site is moving away from Nintendo and Square. The other companies
together probably have a larger share of Gamefaqs voters than either
