I
don't really have any confidence in Mog to do anything. I know people
expect him to have an avatar effect (like Vivi gets the black mage
avatar effect), but I just don't think people really care that much
about moogles, especially nowadays. I mean, moogles aren't even a very
common element in Final Fantasy anymore. FFVII just had Cait Sith's
stuffed moogle that he rode on (and Mog House...), they weren't in
FFVIII at all, the only part they played in FFX was being one of Lulu's
dolls, they did play a bigger part in FFIX and FFXII, but those are the
two least popular mainline FF games in the PS era (FFXI
notwithstanding). Yuna did wear a moogle costume in FFX-2, I guess. But the point is that moogles aren't a big part of the series anymore, so I wouldn't expect great things out of Mog. Yeah, I guess you could argue that the black mage isn't a big part of Final Fantasy anymore either, and I'd agree with that. Here's
a new bracket made from the nomination tally. Also looking at the
numbers everyone with a one or a two seed plus Dan Hibiki seems to be
doing well and will require little to no outside help. Place Factor - A huge issue in four-way contests where an entrant
having no expected chance to advance in the poll does far worse than

-- or any human Pokemon character -- is trash and I'm surprised he has
any support. though I imagine the stats topic would be generally down
on him so I'm probably preaching to the choir here. I've been supporting Mog since 2004, but his time has just passed. Moogles in FF7? barely. FF8? I don't think so. FF10? nada. FF12? uhh, well sort of, I guess. but the popular games don't have them and we've already seen what being in FF6 will get you: nothing. --- xyzzy |

I'm not even touching a tag team mock up with a ten foot pole. And the only human Pokemon characters worth nominating are Brock and Misty, since they have the most going for them in terms of nostalgia, plus they've got defined personalities. --- It may be insulting, but it's true! Hey,
discrediting Pokemon before being bitten in the ass is a Stats topic
tradition. Wouldn't have it any other way, especially since pretty much

It kinda sucks because Mog had so much potential, and a few years ago could've been decent since Moogles were still big, but now they've faded and are only integral in the less-popular FF games here. L-Block the day after it won the championship, and goombas are as
classic as any enemy or animal in gaming. I'm not about to try
predicting strengths or margins of victory, but I don't think a chocobo
beats a goomba unless FF(7)-fans really care THAT much more about them

just realised that for all the talk Valkyria Chronicles isn't getting
any noms, I had it down as a Tales games when it came to noms, we all
know it has a small yet vocal fanbase, but I expected bigger rallies

They're just kinda there in FF6, 8, 10, and 12, while 7 and 9 mainly uses them for in-depth minigames. Hell, FF4 and FF5 are the only games that really calls for mandatory Chocobo use. Meanwhile, over 20 years later Mario's still squashing as many Goombas in NSMBW as he did in SMB. I'd only expect a Chocobo to be slightly above the fodder line, while I think a Goomba could be a midcarder. It's also the only monster race I see doing any damage here, besides maybe Koopa Troopa for those hardcore Mario Kart fans who were pissed off when Koopa got replaced by Wario. --- Not Wylvane |

looking
at other hyped releases, even though it wasn't a runaway success at all
Faith from Mirror's Edge, what are your thoughts people? I loved her design haven't played the game but I hear people liked the game for taking EA to a new direction along with Dead Space and her face is prominent in all advertising so what are her chances of making the field and how weak would she be? So, if we do get a tag team format, which of the following ways would you prefer it to be done: 1. The teams should consist of characters from the same game/series (Link/Ganondorf, for example) 2. The teams should not have characters from the same game/series (though with Smash Bros. characters, you COULD make an exception since it's not the primary series of most of the characters) 3. The teams should consist of characters with similar strengths (such as having Crono and Mega Man on the same team, for example) 4. The teams should consist of one strong character and one weak character (Cloud and Laharl, for example, though this may be too subjective, especially when it comes to new characters) 5. The teams should be chosen completely at random --- "Stay with me until the end. Please." "Not until the end. Always." |

Same
game/series would sound good. I mean, we could still get a lot of good
teams from it, and there would be less chance of an SFF match
happenning. Similar strengths sounds like a cool idea, but not if Link and Cloud/Spehiroth/Snake teamed up with each other. Otherwise, I'd pick random over any of the remaining options. --- The Gamer In Me "paulg is a genius." - MajinZidane |
