FF VII is what made GameFAQs, hence why even Zack is insanely popular here. But Cloud and Seph are not using that, they (unlike the rest of the characters from the game) are very popular everywhere. They have their haters of course, but they also have a ton of fans.

I'm not denying they are very popular. But they are just not at Mario and Link level outside of Gamefaqs.

Yawn, that has nothing to do with what we are arguing. Hey guys I predicted that Diddy Kong is a flop and Captain Falcon would win that match. See I can do the same thing.

For the record I predicted RBY as 9th/10th. Also RBY is nowhere near the undisputed #3, I think only you and maybe a few people believe that.

Well, I have Pikachu beating Nathan Drake and Kratos...and then Pikachu < Cloud < Mario < Link.

Really Cloud making it to the finals? I think you guys have been on GameFAQs for too long. Only way Cloud is doing that is if there is mass linking to GameSpot here.

Or if enough users from GameFAQs come over to GameSpot to vote. After all, GameSpot is owned by the same company that owns GameFAQs and GameFAQs does have links to GameSpot.

Naw. It would be a far smaller margin, I think. Most of the GameFAQs users on the Gamespot board are from board 8, and we all know who board 8 would favour in a Nintendo v Cloud match.

board 8's general Nintendo bias has definitely seeped onto that board; check the Kirby v Dante poll, where they are tied right now. Dante would smash Kirby on Gamespot. Same with Harrich's favourite game company poll, where Nintendo is dominating. That wouldn't happen in a sitewide poll. Don't write Cloud off just yet.

basically, by evidenced by Smash Bros being so big here, when its not really anywhere near the level on other sites, like Gamespot didnt even have it as its Wii goty.

For what it's worth, SSBB was the fans' Wii-GotY, but if you tried to use NMH to judge SSBB in their final-GotY, SSBB would have still lost easily to GTA4. I don't know if that would have ACTUALLY happened, but SSBB wasn't getting close to MGS4 or FO3 there.

I also love how Cloud's looking bad despite getting close to 95% because he's getting less votes than Lara Croft and is only a few hundred votes ahead of Little Mac in a close match.

Yeah, too bad Crono was snubbed so we couldn't see him get crushed 80/20!

So let's see...in our own 2006 GOTY polls, Gears of War almost doubled Oblivion, and Final Fantasy XII beat Kingdom Hearts 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3's remake lost to Guitar Hero II...look how well all of that worked for our contest (3 years later, I know, but still...).

And wait a second, at Gamespot CRYSIS beat Halo 3 and The Orange Box, and Call of Duty 4 doubled Super Mario Galaxy. WTF? (well, I actually don't mind the latter that much, but still).

How is Twitter going to help out with rallying?

Game developers can post a link to the vote from their twitter page, which many people follow to keep up with game updates.

As for Brawl, only one other site picked it for overall GOTY, IGN and Gamespy also didn't give their Wii GOTY awards to Brawl (according to Gamespy Brawl loses to Boom Blox...in our dreams). Also Brawl has not been in an official top ten yet, when GTAIV and MGS4 have.

Before I forget, I wanted to point out that Batman: Arkham Asylum will probably end up being one of the bigger GotY contenders. So far, the big ones are...
