Probably not. People would have to scroll/be interested about Gamespot to see it. Now there is a banner advertising the contest at the bottom of the poll results page for any poll. I'm crazy, I decided to look at the prediction percentages Ceej gave us
for the first contest and combine them with the odds
(http://solarshadow2002.tripod.com/odds.html) he gave us to come up
with some reasonable guesses as to what the overall prediction

How do you know that Alucard was favoured over Duke in round 3? Just a guess, albeit an educated one. Alucard had better odds than Duke, and since the stats appear to indicate Duke had way better bracket support in Round 2, Alucard backers probably had more faith in him to make it farther, especially since Alucard barely had 50% bracket support in Round 1. --- KrahenProphet owned me in the Guru Contest by 39 votes! I'm
filling out a bracket for GameSpot's contest and I have Link/Cloud in
the finals. Normally, I would have chosen Link if this was on GameFAQs,
but I might consider Cloud instead since GameSpot's tastes seem to be a

Because
Gamefaqs is FF7 headquarters. No where else is FF and Square in general
as big as it is on Gamefaqs. If Cloud can't beat Link here, he has
absolutely no chance on Gamespot. I'm predicting Cloud to be an elite
still, but no where near what he is here. I'm not even sure he's

say more on my point, the ONLY reason Link is the main Nintendo
character here is cuz its a FAQ site, and Zelda games are FAQ heavy.
But in general, Mario IS mr. nintendo. He'd be stronger then Link
nearly everywhere, so a character from a game thats not godly on a site
like Gamespot isn't gonan touch him. I'd even go as far as almost a

only sites where Mario could beat Link are sites where the Nintendo
fanbase is very, very, small. Link has firmly established himself as

I'm
not sure if Mario even takes it on something like Yahoo. Most of the
people who recognize Mario but not Link probably won't care enough
about the poll to bother voting. The Nintendo fanbase won't let Link
down. Other gamers will probably also favor Link. Some non-gamers who
don't care about either character might vote for Link based on cooler
character design, reducing Mario's margin of victory there. In a poll
concerning 2 video game characters, there won't be that many more votes
coming from non-gamers than gamers, even on a site like Yahoo. --- Link he come to town to dominate all other characters and trample them down with his sword of more votes. |

The Square bias is what makes Sora, Crono, Squall, Tifa, Aeris, Vincent, and everyone else in the series not from FF IV or VI here. Cloud (and to a lesser extent Sephiroth) are not all Square bias here, they are just legitimately very popular everywhere. And Mario is not Mr. Nintendo (at least not to gamers), Link is, has been for over a decade now. Yeah, Mario would rail him on non gaming sites, but on Gaming sites Link is taking it everytime. Cloud
is popular, but to expect him to be anywhere near Gamefaqs level will
be a fatal mistake. He's the face of jrpgs, but jrpgs are a dying
breed, and if Gamespot is any indication with only 1 JRPG character in
the entire contest, its not a genre that is gonna have the fans to
