Smash is only very popular on GameFAQs. Sure other sites respect it, but it doesn't have the same popularity. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Krahenprophet for winning the guru contest |

OoT's playrate was better in Canada than the United States, which is odd. Not really. N64 greatly outsold PS1 here, and OoT/SM64 were the games to get. Just about everyone played those games up here. --- Calling Pokemon RBY a top 10 game was the most insane contest jibba-jabba ever Woe unto he who sig bets with the near-invincible Lord High creativename |

From: charmander6000 | #201 Yeah, I remember an IGN top games list made by fans that Melee only got in like top 30 or so. And outside of Gamefaqs, I didn't see anywhere near the hype for Brawl. Hell, I'd say there was more hype for GTA4 and MGS4 in general. --- http://www.xboxlc.com/cards/blue2/Albion%20Hero.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v410/RyanSaotome/kiss.jpg |

Also, SSB was supposed
to be in BGE2 over SC. You can thank SB's ADD:/REMOVE:-idea and B8
wanting a SC-rep over a third SSB-rep for SSB being replaced by SC. --- Nominate DOC LOUIS (Punch-Out!!): http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=49774975 |

Many
people wanted closure on Soul Calibur (like some people want to see
Morrigan again) and SSB was suppose to come a distant third anyways. >_> --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Krahenprophet for winning the guru contest |

I
should clarify that I was generally cool with SSB being replaced there.
I'm just saying SSB was originally going to make it in over SC before
SB gave us some extra leverage. --- Nominate DOC LOUIS (Punch-Out!!): http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=49774975 |

The
funny thing is that according to IGN's Readers' Choice list, Brawl and
Melee (as well as Conker's Bad Fur Day) both beat Final Fantasy VII and
every 2d Mario game...but still lose to Halo, Symphony of the Night,
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Shenmue II, and Soul Calibur. Yeah, I bet
that was a weird post, right. Oh, and Kingdom Hearts was 85th on said list, while Vice City was 37th and Metroid Prime was 25th (ahead of even FF7, but lower than Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal). The thing is that Smash games seem to be the ONLY multiplayer games that this site cares about, which is funny because it's almost completely the other way on most sites. Doing a multiplayer count for Empire Magazine's list... ...Even though Brawl was 80th, Virtua Fighter 4 was 50th and Street Fighter II was 7th. Half of the top ten was comprised of multiplayer games. Also, two of the top ten (Civilization and Doom) lost in the first round this contest (but the #8 slot won the contest, and the #2 slot was the runner-up, and the #1 slot made a surprising run this contest). Then again, as mentioned, Brawl was 80th while Gears of War was 18th, so whatever. |

i wish gamefaqs liked Virtua Fighter more then Smash Bros then this site would have taste --- http://www.xboxlc.com/cards/blue2/Albion%20Hero.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v410/RyanSaotome/kiss.jpg |

Soulcalibur
should've replaced Chrono Cross or Banjo-Kazooie. In the former, it may
have had an actual chance of advancing, and in the latter, at least
it's not another Nintendo game and thus sticks out a bit. I think
adding Soulcalibur was a smart move, but definitely not over Smash
Bros, which could've potentially beat Starcraft and give us an awesome
Round 1 upset before bowing out to OoT in Round 2. And Bacon's planning a side-contest for private boards? When did nominations start for 2008's contest? --- Brawl did well for me, but not enough to net me the Guru win over Krahenprophet, so kudos to him. |

Street
Fighter isn't really mainstream anymore, even if it was back in the
days of the SNES. Selling a million copies doesn't mean that much
anymore, either, although yes, that's much better than most JRPGs. --- Krahenprophet he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

*corrects a mistake in my last post* Reposting this. As I predicted shortly after one hour into the poll, 15-20% definitely bombed overnight after all. The hourly trend for this poll up to this point looks like this: Time | Over 20% | 15-20% | 11-14% | 6-10% .. | Under 5% | I don't tip | I don't tip* 01:00 | 13.27% .. | 47.68% | 9.84% .. | 10.14% | 5.05% ..... | 5.95% ... | 8.07% 02:00 | 12.31% .. | 47.10% | 10.57% . | 10.27% | 4.86% ..... | 6.51% ... | 8.37% 03:00 | 11.29% .. | 43.95% | 9.71% .. | 11.13% | 5.47% ..... | 7.64% ... | 10.80% 04:00 | 11.40% .. | 38.26% | 9.26% .. | 12.00% | 6.30% ..... | 8.66% ... | 14.14% 05:00 | 10.44% .. | 32.45% | 8.96% .. | 13.91% | 6.66% ..... | 11.88% .. | 15.70% 06:00 | 9.33% .... | 26.50% | 8.52% .. | 15.34% | 8.65% ..... | 12.69% .. | 18.97% 07:00 | 8.78% .... | 31.80% | 7.37% .. | 13.94% | 7.89% ..... | 13.21% .. | 17.01% 08:00 | 10.33% .. | 36.74% | 9.07% .. | 12.39% | 7.08% ..... | 10.51% .. | 13.87% 09:00 | 11.12% .. | 43.34% | 9.05% .. | 11.74% | 5.87% ..... | 8.99% ... | 9.89% *Note: The second "I don't tip" is referring to "I don't tip, I don't go to restaurants where people tip". "I don't tip" was the only shorthand way of referring to both of the "I don't tip" options. Over 20% and 15-20% had a horrible night vote. 11-14% was also slightly hurt by the night vote too. All of the other options did better with the night vote.
