"Never played it" has the bad board vote that we all know of from FFVII. "Never finished it" also got the board vote support, oddly enough. The night vote was the best time for FFVII, although it wasn't quite as good as I expected of it. "Never finished it" got very few cuts during the night vote, though there were 5 options that all had to share the night vote. Late morning hours were the most brutal for FFVII, but the day vote was the second worst time period outside the board vote. FFVII did improve with the second night vote, but it wasn't as good at the first night vote.

The OoT night vote was just brutal here. The playrate was at 83.62% at the end of the Power Hour. It managed to drop almost 3% with the night vote alone and it's still dropping.

According to Empire Magazine, Brawl loses to Twilight Princess, which loses to Metroid Prime, which loses to Eternal Darkness, which loses to The Sims.

Brawl was 80th, Twilight Princess was 63rd, Metroid Prime was 47th, Eternal Darkness was 41st, and The Sims was 38th. Oh, and here's the list from #30-25

It's also funny how two of the top ten members both (in some ways, unexpectedly) lost in the first round of the contest, and two more did not even make it. And the #1 slot ended with a last place finish in round 2 (against three strong games, yes, but whatever). And another member had a last place finish in round 3. And we have our winner and our runner-up appropriately next to each other, and another game that had a very surprising finish here.

According to the x-stats, GoldenEye would've also had a last place finish in Half-Life 2's place though, so...KINGDOM HEARTS 2 > EVERY FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER ON THIS SITE??? RIDICULOUS I SAY, RIDICULOUS!!!

Yeah, last time I posted this same list it was up to #18, where I remembered it. Now I actually went back and looked at the darn thing and did the top 60 'cuz nothing else was all that interesting. Save for Pong beating out Ico and Tomb Raider, I guess. And Pac-Man ahead of MGS2 and Castlevania.

Super Mario Bros 3 isn't even on there, and FF7 and OoT are way too high.

I've been replaying OoT recently, and god damn does that game have some glaring flaws. Best Game Ever my ass.

Very very interesting stats here. Not only is the playrate of FFVII in America only a couple of percentage points different, but Ocarina of Time's percentage looks to have dropped by a larger number, especially when you take into account how high it was to begin with. I guess what happened was more of a shift in tastes than in anything else.

KrahenProphet owned me in the Guru Contest by 39 votes! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've already mentioned I enjoy LMS more if I think it's Wylvane digging through tons of magazines to "get at us." I'm patient with the lists though, mainly because I do kinda like skimming through them. It's just that taking them seriously for our purposes of the contests is insane.

Pretty much, what-evs. It's useless, but not in a completely non-entertaining way. This isn't to be mistaken as fun to read, but I'll give the lists a glance.

I think today's poll and yesterday's suggest that 2005-7 were in fact Nintendo's best years, and the shift from 2004's FFVII/OOT result to this year's was not gradual, but happened mostly over the course of 1 year (the Nintendo Boost). It fits most of our other results (Square's second tier is stronger relative to Nintendo's second tier than at any point since.....2003, for example), but doesn't explain Link vs. Cloud. Specifically, it doesn't match up with Link only beating Cloud by half a percent more in 2005 than in 2004.

Yeah, which is why Sephiroth and Tifa were the only Square characters to beat a Nintendo character in 2005. Nintendo was flat out insane in 2005. Since 2006, it's been much more even though.

If he is a troll, he's ****ing brilliant. He's found a way to post annoying, obnoxious stuff that is irrelevant to our interests yet not technically off-topic, and he's portrayed as naive, so he can be simply accused of being dumb rather than purposely annoying everyone.

LMS has never really annoyed me. Mostly my reaction is just skip over his posts. LMS realizes that none of us take these game magazine lists or the votals lists seriously, and I think he said that he didn't expect us to do so ages ago.

I kicked RE4 out of my top ten in favor of GoldenEye. I've actually seen a playthrough on that.

Originally Super Mario World was my 17th favorite, and now it's my 3rd favorite. The things playing the games can do.

Had Brawl lived up to expectations, it'd probably be #3. Don't think it would have been too high up before release though- while people were expecting it to be the best thing ever, I doubt too many would have actually voted for a game they'd never played over something they'd played and loved.
