Maybe
it's another rift between Canada and US. The only people that use MSN
are young teenagers, the older teens/young adults use Facebook. Still
with it dropping in popularity in Canada should give the bottom option
some extra percent. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Krahenprophet for winning the guru contest |

Facebook's
got a chat-toolbar now (and I think MySpace does too...at least, it
did). Also, the rise in popularity of texting has likely hurt the
popularity of messengers. It'd be interesting to see the changes from the last poll if Facebook and "Who needs IMs when I can text?" were options, though I can't say I'd care a whole lot personally. --- Nominate DOC LOUIS (Punch-Out!!): http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=49774975 |

is correct, the combination of all young people having cell phones/text
messaging and all young people being on facebook (or more recently,
twitter) has really killed off both e-mail and instant messaging. I'd
agree, IM should be taking a major hit the next time we see that poll. --- KrahenProphet is the King of the Gurus! All Hail! thengamer.com/guru | thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com |

Comparing this contest (using the x-stats) to other sites' lists: Using Metroid Prime as the test subject: Only 12 of the 32 games that placed ahead of Prime on Entertainment Weekly's list would actually beat Prime in a contest setting. The same holds true for: 16 of the 24 games on IGN Readers' Choice List And I believe most of the 47 games that placed ahead of MP on Empire Magazine's list wouldn't actually beat it in this contest (then again, according to that list, Civilization > Street Fighter II > Doom > Ocarina, also according to the list Metroid Prime would beat Brawl and Twilight Princess but would lose to Eternal Darkness, The Sims, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill 2, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, GTAIII, Gears of War, and uh, whatever). |
LinkMarioSamus | Posted 8/7/2009 5:22:18 AM | message detail |
Also, here are the percentages of all the games that faced A Link to the Past. Streets of Rage 2 got about 12.74%. Doom got about 23.77%. (which I think is more or less how well it does according to the stats, no?) Donkey Kong Country got about 24.26% in round 1. Donkey Kong Country got about 18.93% in round 2. (seems like it overlapped with something else. It was released in the same year as Super Metroid and shares characters with Super Mario Kart, so...it's quite funny to think that DKC got its ass kicked in the match when it had sold best out of all the games (about 8 million), no? well, and SMK had sold second best (also about 8 million), and Super Metroid had sold worst by a fairly good margin, and A Link to the Past is in the middle (about 5 million)) Eh, tell me if you want me to continue. |

Donkey Kong Country got about 18.93% in round 2. (seems like it overlapped with something else. Well there was 4 Nintendo games in that match as oppose to 2 giving it a higher chance of overlap. It was released in the same year as Super Metroid and shares characters with Super Mario Kart, so...it's quite funny to think that DKC got its ass kicked in the match when it had sold best out of all the games (about 8 million), no? well, and SMK had sold second best (also about 8 million), and Super Metroid had sold worst by a fairly good margin, and A Link to the Past is in the middle (about 5 million)) Yeah, sales doesn't mean strength. If it did the finals would have been Super Mario Bros. vs. Tetris vs. Pokemon RBY vs. Pokemon GS (maybe GTA: San Andreas because of LFF) --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Krahenprophet for winning the guru contest |

Having
no knowledge of how the online activation works, I'd imagine Blizzard
would count those activations as a sale and publish it in some fashion. Also, again, no experience with it...but in that scenario, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to just do it online after the trial than buying the game?
