There's a reason I put Crono as his ceiling and not as how strong I expect him to be (which is a midcarder). His potential range makes him much more interesting than a lot of other possible new characters though, including Charizard. And uh....thanks for bringing up Vincent.

Ensemble cast. Also when someone goes to nominate a Pokemon character, I think they'll tend to think think of actual Pokemon. That doesn't mean they don't like Red, they just don't make the connection to actually nominate him. This is anecdotal evidence, but I'd vote Red over just about anyone and I never considered nominating him until other people starting bringing up nominating human Pokemon characters.

Seifer most likely did not get into the Villains Contest because of an unstated Company Cap (although he still didn't get as many noms as Sin and Ultros <_<), and the possibility that Ceej considered him a friendly rival.

He also didn't get in the past two years due to an unstated Series Cap, most likely.

Possibly forget what I said aboust a Company cap in Sp05. There were 7 entrants for Nintendo, but only 6 for Square. I always assumed it was exactly the same, implying a Company Cap. Ceej could have forgotten his own rules from '04, and counted Ansem as Square instead of Disney though.

Yeah, but even still, he's not THAT strong. It's hard to say how strong he was last year anyway. I dunno. I just have a hard time seeing the Pokemon trainer be super strong. Maybe a midcarder, but I don't see him beating Mewtwo, Pikachu, or Charizard.

However, Pokemon really is all about the Pokemon. I doubt a character like "Pokemon Trainer" would be stronger than some of the franchise's iconic and stupidly lovable and hate-able furry faces. Maybe Ash and Team Rocket would actually be stronger, since they're bringing in actual character and nostalgia from the TV show, but "Pokemon Trainer" (or even worse, "Red")? I have trouble seeing that.

Also, Pikachu over Charizard? Dear god, I hope not.

I dunno where all this nameless Pokemon trainer hype came from. I doubt he'd be stronger than any of the actual Pokemon, much less Noble Nine tier. If you want someone in from RBY, you'd be better off pushing Charizard or something, but I doubt it's even much stronger than Pikachu.
