Yeah, first of all why bring back Fire Emblem and second of all why put it in a Nintendo match. At least Golden Sun is different enough to not be affected as much by Nintendo SFF.

Hey, I never supported giving in to the whiny Fire Emblem fans. Your game got its chance. Be fair and give someone else a chance too.

In regards to Returners and the Rally Tournament:

Why not just mix them in with the other characters being rallied for? It's not like there's that many characters left to be rallied for that need the spot anymore.

Could work, keeping them separate is basically giving Ken a free pass to be nominated. At least Raiden had Fox to compete with.

Keep in mind that Golden Sun has been dead for like, 5 years. Fans gave up hope on ever seeing a sequel. And then when it finally does get announced, it's "btw, here's Golden Sun DS. Here's a trailer that shows nothing. Moving right along..."

So all of these votes are coming from dedicated Golden Sun fans.

I always thought that Golden Sun would do better in that spot than Fire Emblem could ever hope. Even if you believe Fire Emblem is stronger than Golden Sun directly, that was always the most horrible match that Fire Emblem could get.

I mean, look at that pack from Fire Emblem's point of view:

Wind Waker: Zelda/Nintendo SFF
SSBM: Nintendo SFF, plus SSBM is arguably Fire Emblem's worst possible opponent. Remember, SSBM is pretty much single-handedly responsible for getting Fire Emblem to come to North America.
Disgaea: Even Disgaea isn't helpful, because it's also a Strategy RPG and could cause overlap within the genre.

Golden Sun still runs into Nintendo SFF problems, but that was just a horrible place for Fire Emblem, and I'm not sure why anyone would want to put it there. Well, actually, I was all for allowing Disgaea to beat something, so there was that, but otherwise...

I have always supported Isaac. He looked to be just above the fodder line in '03 not counting possible SFF, and was stuck against Nintendo handheld RPG characters the past two years. Hardly the best draw for him.

yeah, it's some of that too, but Rising over Peace Walker is like NSMB Wii over Galaxy 2. it just doesn't mesh. I think Metroid will pass Golden Sun before this is over anyway. these niche RPGs always die after the first hour. Golden Sun's legit though. it's not strong or anything, but it has that same TWEWY-esque core DS fanbase.

I'm convinced this poll is just here to insult the people who took Galaxy over Brawl. just when you think it can't get worse, it does.

but Rising over Peace Walker is like NSMB Wii over Galaxy 2. it just doesn't mesh.

You can't just look at it as Big Boss vs. Raiden. Peace Walker is just another MGS PSP game - there's been like 4 of those already. Rising is the first Metal Gear game in a long time that's going to go multiplatform - it's got the 360 backing.

This isn't true at all. Peace Walker is essentially MGS5, it's the real deal as far as the series goes. Kojima's got no meaningful role in Rising, while he's directing, writing, and designing PW. Rising's just getting the nod here because it's on a console.

Maybe you could use the Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime comparison instead. Prime went to a new studio, took a different direction gameplay style-wise, and was on a console. Fusion was done by the Super Metroid team and had a better fit in the main games' timeline while seemingly retaining the classic style. Prime got way more hype before they came out though.

I believed in LttP. Krahenprophet believed in OoT. Only he remained alive to tell the tale.

Well, Kojima said it repeatedly at Sony's conference. The whole point here is that Rising is doing better because it's on a console, and it's not doing better than it already is because the teaser consisted of a pic of Raiden that we had seen for a couple of weeks already. If Peace Walker were the console game, it'd probably be winning the poll right now.

the biggest surprise of this poll is that 2 highly touted Metal Gear Solid games that got a lot of press time at e3 are being beat out by an average RPG series that got nothing but a short trailer, then nobody seemed to even care about it afterwards.
