So... with low votals all contest, and now this match

Think this may get Bacon to change his mind?

But but but but the contests are useless now! Zelda always wins! Why bother doing any more contests?

Why won't GameFAQs realize that Zelda is dum?

Brawl did well for me, but not enough to net me the Guru win over Krahenprophet, so kudos to him.

I see 3x as many "FF7 wins everything" comments than Zelda. Probably because the fanbase is far more annoying, but it is still pretty weird.

new games won this war of words! I'd still take LTTP over FFX though. new rule: when in doubt, side with Nintendo.

okay, this isn't a new rule, but it needs to be loud and clear now.

I think its also because FF7 being this popular is a Gamefaqs exclusive thing. FF7 would be nothing more then a mid tier game on most gaming sites if they ran a best game ever contest. But OoT would be strong everywhere

Yep, you better believe I'm taking Nintendo in nearly any match this summer unless it's plain obvious that it can't win or Squall is involved.

yea its strange even I myself took FF7 to win

But I eventually realized I was dead wrong (come round of 16)

I'm just surprised this entire board, especially most of the hot shot predictors/gurus, didn't see it until the finals. Not even the semis swayed them.

What was it that didn't convince you guys when OOT rammed Brawl (which literally handed it's votes over to OOT next match) MGS4 and the 2nd strongest FF into the ground and almost got the same votes FF7 did vs competition all SFFing each other?

Cause people here tend to be bitter angry gamers who whine that "nintendo has killed the industry" or some **** by releasing the Wii.

Hey now, I personally hate the Wii because it sucks, and hasnt barely given me anything aside annoyance and anger.

Though it did substitue for the comp nicely when I needed to release mine urges.

We're on pace to break the all time non-Block votals record, I think.

I hope so, but the votals might fall back down to earth again. Even though this match is currently outdoing the 4-way final, it is possible that the votals could fall back down to earth again and not end up getting more than the 4-way final. Remember how the 2007 bonus match looked like it was getting way more votes than the 2007 final in the early part of the match? Well, the 2007 bonus match ended up getting less votes than the 2007 final (by like 30000), though the final was a 25 hour match. One example where you shouldn't use the votals from the first hour or so to predict the final votals of the match.

both are pretty influential, although you're correct on OOT. Regardless games like FFX would probably be the frontrunners for the super powerful square Representative outside of this site.

Probably Super Smash Bros. though it technically DID make the bracket...

Remember how we were saying that the games on OOT's half of the bracket were probably overrated while the games on FFVII's half were underrated thanks to LFF? Looks like we got the wrong conclusion out of a truth- OOT was underrated, and FFVII was overrated. The games behind them were fine.

It's hard to say that because vote patterns change if the pool is spread out. What I mean is, take the example from before where we mentioned how OOT scored a lower percent in it's 4 way with pokemon and mgs than it did the finals with two very powerful games, FF7 and LTTP. The reason it did was because the fanbases of Gamefaqs were all split there; three of the most popular series duking it out. It's different when it's all games from nearly the same fanbase: see mario world/mario 3/lttp. That was literally nintendo vs ff7 there... how could it not be seen. That match proved it, and the result almost solidified the notion that adding the 3 vs ff7 would give you a nearly viable result...

I think Mario 3/World/64 and LttP would all break 40% on FF7 1-on-1. It just so happens that FF7 had the second luckiest bracket placement, after FFX. There was very little on the top half of the bracket that could hurt FF7 significantly more than other games. I doubt FF6 was even hurting FF7 that much.

It hardly matters to FFVII and OOT where they are placed given how much they are ahead of the rest as long as they don't get put up against each other. And FFVII faced a potential nightmare FFVII/CT/FFVI/LTTP match, so it didn't have exactly lucky bracket placement. Lucky that SM64 beat CT, maybe, although it probably would have beaten LTTP anyway.

I encourage everyone to rally at least one person to vote in today's match to help increase vote totals. By doing this, it only helps our one-on-one > four-way arguments when the only one-on-one match we're getting could outdo every other match in the previous four-way contest.
