I'm turning on OoT right here! And it's my favorite game!

If fans are smart enough to bury FFX and LttP this far underground, I think they're smart enough to realize that tomorrow's match is meaningless and they may as well just goof around a little. Unfortunately, even said goofing around and a board-led rally shouldn't be enough to turn this one, especially when the next few hours will probably look bad.

However, if FFVII eeks out a win, I still call Ocarina the stronger game. An unadvertised, surprise bonus match doesn't strike me as legitimate.

The vote totals for the DSV timeframe were weekend-esque, for what it's worth. A lot higher than a normal weekday match gets.

Meaningless? I think pretty much everyone will think of it as a grand final, because whatever Bacon may think, the vast majority of this site knows perfectly well that 4-ways are not as legitimate as 1v1s.

Looking at the BSV this morning, the first hour of the diluted ASV could be rough, I think FFVII will be okay after that.

The morning vote is good for FFVII though. The ASV isn't. You can't look at morning and afternoon trends for FF games. They ALWAYS do well in the morning and almost always do poorly with the ASV.

An unadvertised, surprise bonus match doesn't strike me as legitimate.

The morning vote is good for FFVII though. The ASV isn't. You can't look at morning and afternoon trends for FF games. They ALWAYS do well in the morning and almost always do poorly with the ASV.

No, what I meant is that it did worse in 6-7 than 7-9. This falls in line with what we've seen with the ASV recently- that is, a lot of East coast schools seem to still be in session, whereas the Central and Mountain time zones aren't contributing much to the ASV anymore.

I dunno how many votes we'll get tomorrow if it's just FFVII vs. OoT again. SSBB/MGS4 one-on-one got fewer votes than the three-way before, and the fact that it was essentially the same match minus one contender probably turned some people off.

If FFVII wins I'm going to roll with the theory that the OoT fanbase will vote their game over anything and LttP had to live off scraps, getting no help from the core Zelda fans. There's just something not right with the 3rd or 4th strongest game in the contest down at 11%.

There's something really wrong with OOT at 40% today when it couldn't manage 39% against RBY/MGS/FFVIII. I think there's a core anti-FFVII fanbase, which is pretty much a 100% hardcore, static, fanbase that always votes for whichever game has the best chance of taking out FFVII, if such a game exists.

Ah, it looks like I was wrong, Link/Cloud 2006 did beat Link/Cloud/Snake, but it didn't kill it. It did, however, destroy Link/Cloud/Snake/Sephiroth in votals. The 5 days of the battle royale went as follows:

Actually, FFVII can win tomorrow. This is an unimpressive performance from OoT because FFVII is being drained by FFX and LTTP. OoT is the only recent game in the poll that isn't FFX.

Continuing with the FFVII hype, there are only 2 fanbases on Gamefaqs. Those who hate FFVII, and those who don't. OOT is getting 100% of the Anti-FFVII fanbase today, therefore, LTTP and FFX must be Not Anti-FFVII Fanbase LFFing with FFVII.

If someone voted for LTTP today, this proves 2 things about them:

1. They are not part of the Anti-FFVII fanbase whose #1 priority is to see FFVII fall no matter what.
2. They are not part of the core Nintendo fanbase that falls in line for the good of Nintendo.

They may as well be FFVII fans!

The main problem with this "Fictional Character Battle" is that most of the people doing noms will be all excited about these fictional characters, and most of the bracket is gonna be full of them, except for just the most elite video game characters. We might have like 20 total video game characters; 5 FF7 characters, 5 from top Nintendo, and 10 leftover including the likes of Crono, Snake, Mega Man, and Sonic. Do we really need a bracket where random naruto character #32 gets in over characters like Dante and Auron?

I actually like this idea if there has to be a mix of game and non-game characters.

I imagine if 1 vs. 1 it would go:

Division 1: Video Games
Division 2: Movies
Division 3: Comic Books/Manga
Division 4: Misc.

Or if, 4 ways.

Divisions 1+2: Video Games
Division 3: Animated Film/Television
Division 4: Live Action Film/Television
Division 5: Comic Books
Division 6: Anime/Manga
Division 7: Literature
Division 8: Misc.

LoZ *barely* beat FF in the middle of crazy Twilight Princess hype. Remove the hype and FF easily wins. Twilight Princess might help LoZ make up some ground, but it likely would not be enough.

Hype's an easy excuse to hide behind when it was well-received -- look at how it did on SSBB and RE4, two other recent mega-titles. Hype is nice, as Solid Snake established...but having a release only establishes more dominance. Look at what Solid Snake and SSBB has done; Solid led Cloud for forty-eight hours straight and SSBB looks stronger than SSBM despite being a year old...and you may even be able to credit it to recent Nintendo dominance to a degree.

Anyway, given everything else I said, LoZ:TP-hype isn't going be more important than the rest of that.

More like Lord of the Rings rips it apart. Or James Bond too, if he's placed there.

Although Harry would still have a good shot at making it out, due to massive LOTR leeching in the Div. Finals most likely. Plus he has a legit shot at being second in the Division anyway.

I would love to see how advances out of the Misc. Division though.

Jesus? Well, 75% of the vote is American, and about 80% of Americans are Christian. Plus, 40% of the rest of the world is Christian.

So Jesus gets a guaranteed .8 * .75 + .4 * .25 = 70% of the votes in every match. Plus, nothing can SFF Jesus.
