There's only so many ways you can explain away 270 votes in 10 minutes, and it's only going to get worse.

By the way, Zelda had 57% on FF in the series contest after 15 minutes. Ocarina has nearly 56% on FF7 after 15 minutes. this isn't some accident.

OoT went up more in % than FF7 did. I know it's early still, but I wouldn't have thought that too likely after the initial OoT rampage.

That update, however, is more than enough to break confidence. That's more acceleration than LoZ had against FF in the Series Contest.

The FF series also didn't have a craptacular day vote. You really think OoT can't swing 1000 votes on FF7? You think FF7 gets a lead of half that many?

it looks to me like FF7 will tie it up by morning only to get ASV'd

if FF7 can't stop the bleeding in the next 15 minutes, though? it won't even be close.

Yeah, and like in Cloud/Sephiroth/Snake, I'd guess a higher proportion of the early Zelda voters know what's up, and know to vote for ditch LTTP for OOT. I'm not sure the same is true for FFVII given how much the early voters seem to hate it.

A few more updates like that will seal the deal. Remember, FFVII has to erase all this and build itself a nice lead. There's no question who the day vote favors.

Heck, this could be Link/Cloud 2005 all over again. I remember freaking out when Cloud came all the way back from an early deficit to get a lead on Link.

It'll favor OOT, but while FFVII and CT are essentially equals at the ASV now, that's not the least bit true for the morning. Plus remember how Snake lost the ASV to Crono last year in the final? Having an absurdly strong early vote tends to dampen your day vote. This isn't over yet.

And compared to their natural strengths, OoT is obliterating LttP far more than FF7 is FFX. I thought that game would be in single digits by this point - the Nintendo early vote, at least, really has its act together.

I think what this means is that FF7 HASN'T one upped OoT the whole contest. I mean with OoT beating FF7 now it means you have result like FFX Vs. LttP being a close match. And RBY being the 3rd strongest game with practically no argument except for maybe some Smash games but those look kind of iffy

So, what was that about the LttP/Mario64/FF6 and RBY/Melee/FFX trios again? something about OoT's being weaker?

This proves that Melee/Brawl were highly SFF'ed and RBY was also SFF'ed. We just didn't know it would be that strong.

Also, yeah, this is probably going to be more summer/weekend trends than school year weekday trends. There was essentially no difference in the OOT/FFX trends yesterday and last thursday.

Still don't agree with this. The later rounds are arguable because SFF is horrible and this format only makes it worse, but the early rounds seemed to edge to OoT. Of course early rounds mean weaker games, so it was harder to trust.
