Main
thing I've learned from this contest is even after 10-ish years no
gaming corperation is focused and dedicated enough to spend time and
make a game of FFVII and OoT quality anymore. --- ------ --------- |

From: WarThaNemesis2 | #435 What do you presume comes out in the next five years that overtakes them? Nothing out now is going to get big enough, so you're gambling that something in the next five years becomes that popular? really, I doubt we need to have OoT crowned a champion of anything

FFX has a slightly better Europe vote than MGS4, a much better morning vote, and a slightly better day vote. A few hundred votes is doable, although the 'clutch' factor is in MGS4's favor. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |

I've
thought for years that Division 32/64 was underrated (or the others
were overrated, those amount to the same thing). But how much that
generation was underrated suprised me. RBY, SM64, MGS, Goldeneye, and
of course FFVII and OOT- it looks like FFVII/CT and FFVII/SSBM really
were analogous to Sephiroth/Bowser and Sephiroth/Ganon- not just
smaller versions of what happened there, but really analogous. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

If
it were one of the other MGS games, sure. But MGS4 has an amazing power
hour and comparatively weak overnight vote- you should be able to bury
a Smash game overnight even if Brawl doesn't have as unbalanced trends
as Melee. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

Doesn't MGS typically have a better early night vote (1-4 AM) then FFX, though? Maybe. All I know is that FFX got to 1500 on RBY with the night vote, MGS4 couldn't do it against Brawl, whose night vote is worse than RBY's. --- "But you have been given freedom. Freedom to be...outside." I think a bandwagon could form, but only under very exclusive circumstances. Starcraft might have been able to do it if it had the right bracket placement that would give it the illusion of being much stronger than it was. As it was, it looked doomed from the outset, so there was likely no reason to rally behind it. That's the main problem for a bandwagon in general, you'd have to have bracket placement that doesn't cause people to write it off as "Oh well, maybe we can get it through a few rounds, but it'll be crushed in the end". L-Block was special, although you might be able to replicate it with something like... I dunno, Big Rigs, but again, you'd have to find it a place in the bracket where it could last a few rounds for this to kick in. But yes, I'd say it's much, much harder to form a bandwagon in the games contest. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? From: KamikazePotato | #485 I've thought this for awhile. I really didn't buy RBY being able to build a bandwagon. The thing with bandwagons is that a big aspect is appeal, and a Tetris block or a giant cube? Why, that'd be hilarious to vote for! Oregon Trail or Battletoads or even RBY just don't have that same appeal. Hell, even blatant joke games like Superman 64 or Shaq Fu wouldn't do well either since they aren't a big enough name. The only game I could see developing a bandwagon is Duke Nukem Forever, and even then I wouldn't have faith in it. And of course there's the possibility it'll never get released in the first place. --- Wylvane's current main account. |
