^ With Zelda OoT in the same match as Brawl, Brawl will probably be crushed pretty easily.

I just dont know meta.... my gut is telling me that TP was hurting Brawl more due to the fact its on the same console.

Sure you can download OOT onto the Wii, but what i'm saying is that TP was almost a Wii launch game while Brawl came much later so yeah TP would have more of an impact on Brawl at least that's what i think.

We'll find out in a few more days anyway.

Since it's Brawl, the bracket part is actually pulling harder. :/

I think Brawl has let too much time pass. It can easily still win, of course, but the window of opportunity where it could have just sprint past MGS and build a nice cushion of its own is gone. This could be down to the wire.

Given the pace it was on earlier and the score around 6 when I checked on my cell phone (something like 550), I figured it would have flown to an easy win of like 1500 or so.

From the final boss to the very end is about 75 minutes, and it's very touching. Almost all of Act 5 is very touching. Don't let these "OMG THE WHOLE GAME IS A 29864792349 HOUR CUT SCENE" fools convince you otherwise.

Of course you do, because you'd accuse a game of cheating in a 90-10 match if you could.

I think this match proves just how hard it is for games to come back on each other. You don't get much worse than the MGS4 ASV or better than the Smash ASV, but it might not manage 1650 votes.

I've already seen the ending (woops), and some of the plot revelations are wonderful in their stupidity. In terms of plot and characters, I've long believed that MGS is a hundred times cheesier than even Resident Evil, but many don't see it because of the former's superior production. RE fans know their series is a bunch of cheese; MGS fans think Kojima's story is level with the best novels of the last century (whatever the hell they are I don't read man).

One of the reasons I prefer RE.

Did I cry cheating during the two recent Nintendo comebacks? I'm sure the topics are archived somewhere, I'd love to see if I did.

the road to the ending is better than the actual ending, I think. act 3 and 4 are where it's at.

Yes, I remember now. The phantom 50 vote cut, which was clearly not legitimate. I wanted Mario 3 to win that match, but it could have won fairly without that update.

Match LXI: Super Mario World vs. Super Mario Bros. 3 vs. Final Fantasy VII vs. LoZ: A Link to the Past

Last Round:

Super Mario World – 30.96%
Super Mario Bros. 3 – 29.00%
The Legend of Zelda – 28.97%
Super Mario Bros. – 11.07%

Final Fantasy VII – 40.06%
LoZ: A Link to the Past – 23.14%
Super Mario 64 – 22.95%
Final Fantasy III (VI) – 13.85%

Analysis

If only Super Mario 64 finished its comeback we would have had an interesting match. As it stands the only thing interesting in this match would be the token fight for third and even that may not be interesting due to the presence of another SNES game. The final two rounds are upon us with the eight best games fighting for the title of Best Game Ever.

With three Nintendo games Final Fantasy VII should dominate this pack despite the Nintendo games being Top 10 material. In fact Final Fantasy VII will probably get a higher percent this round than it did last round. Ever since round 3 it has been outperforming Ocarina of Time and is looking like the favourite to win the entire thing. Also dragging along a Zelda title will be helpful for its cause.

Barely defeating a Mario game last round was a bit of a shock, but it was able to and now with two Mario games this match should be a walk in the park for LoZ: A Link to the Past. I wouldn’t peg the two Mario games far off from Super Mario 64, but together they drain their strength so much that Link to the Past should have no problems advancing. The only way I can see it losing is if Mario fans abandon one of the games and only support one.

Poor Mario the games did so well that they ended up killing each other off. While they don’t have a chance to place the third place match is still somewhat debatable. If console SFF does exist Super Mario Bros. 3 has a large advantage and should be considered the favourite for third. Also if Mario fans decide to abandon one of the games it would make sense that they would support Super Mario Bros. 3 as it has less in common with the other two opponents.

Personally I wanted a fair fight between the two Mario games, but Super Mario World gets the short end of the stick in the name of Link to the Past. There’s a chance that the two Mario games will be close, but like their first encounter Super Mario Bros. 3 will seem to have the advantage every step of the way. Personally I think it would be cool if Mario fans were organized enough to support only one game, but there’s a major rift between World and Bros fans so something like that probably won’t happen.

Simple outcome for a match worth so many points, Final Fantasy VII will destroy the four-pack worse than last round while Link to the Past will waltz right through Mario LFF. We are one step closer at having a two Zelda two Final Fantasy final. It’s been a great contest, though next time let’s get rid of the generation bracket.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Final Fantasy VII > Super Mario Bros. 3

charmander6000’s Prediction: Final Fantasy VII – 44.84%, LoZ: A Link to the Past – 22.66%, Super Mario Bros. 3 – 16.82%, Super Mario World – 15.68%

To get back on topic, yes I think MGS4's ending is better than 3's (and note I *always* cry at 3's ending, I love it). 4's ending is just a perfect closing to the series. Nothing is left unexplored there, and no post-credits cliffhanger junk.
