It's too bad RBY got buried so easily. This could've been a great series of quarterfinals.

As is, it's still the best stretch we've had all contest, but then we haven't had many really good matches.

uhh- well thats not happening in this contest... you talking about one on one or some crazy scenario.... The only situation I think were it is even POSSIBLE for MGS4>OoT would be

OoT/LttP/TP/MGS4....

and even then I think I would still pick OoT>MGS4

I had a dream that MGS4 was winning by 3 votes at the 23:55 update.

Brawl then won the match by about 2000. It also broke the updater and got more than 100% that update. <_<

Final Fantasy X's going to beat MGS4 next round, and probably pretty easily. MGS4 can't even beat a heavily LFF'd Brawl. FFX at least beat RBY.

You have to admit RE4 has done pretty damn well in this competition. Especially considering the other RE were out first round.

I'm fine with that -- it's not like very many would make it in, anyway. The nomination-process would have a "When in Rome..."-like effect, anyway; I doubt many other fictional characters get a ton of nominations for a contest hosted on a major video game site. We'd get a few new power-houses, a few surprises, probably some bombs that would be fun to watch, and I doubt they make up more than 20% of the bracket anyway. If it's like 50/50 with the types of characters, I'm not going to be cool with that at all...but sure, let the highlights in. They couldn't easily get more than the highlights nominated, so it's not all bad.

As far as MGS4 vs FFX next round, I'm choosing FFX no doubt. MGS4 has no chance. On another note, Brawl has slowed down the last couple of updates. This match could be interesting.

This last quarter of the bracket has functioned just like Division 128 did in 2004. Everything of note looks equal. RE4, KHII, and MGS3 are within a hair of each other. MGS4 probably beats them 1v1, but certainly not by much. Brawl and TP are a bit ahead of the pack (Brawl more so, obviously), but once again, they certainly wouldn't crush anything in that earlier group. I'd like to see where these games will be in five years, which begs the question...

in 2014, MGS4 probably wins. but Brawl already crushed MGS4 last round -- I don't see why it couldn't do it again unless you think there's some weird Fallout 3 LFF (which was already disproved in GOTY)

yeah, one thing this contest has taught me is not to assume trends will continue like they will in character battles. this looks like a good match.
