HaRRicH | Posted 6/2/2009 1:38:27 PM | message detail |
I'm
thinking/hoping SM64 is the strongest Mario-game, so that would make it
tougher for LoZ to advance next round, especially if SM64/SMW split
less than SMW/SMB3/SMB1. LoZ has also aged the worst out of next
round's options. Then again, LoZ will also be the only NES game in the
poll for its first time and the board may fight for LoZ to advance so
LoZ:OoT has a shot to beat FF7. I'm backing SM64 in that situation, but it's not like LoZ is dead in the water. It could reasonably get third place, but I don't like its chances to do any better in that situation (though that would be the best situation it can ask for). --- BT > Harrich lol me |

From the sound of it, it's a true GS sequel. Nothing about it being a remake was said. --- "But you have been given freedom. Freedom to be...outside." "I am lightning...the rain transformed." |

I
suppose I shouldn't be saying this after today, but I would be shocked
if Zelda 1 advanced next round. It's only doing this because of being
stuck with three Mario games with a ton of overlap. Make it two with
less overlap, and it gets beaten pretty easily. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |
red sox 777 | Posted 6/2/2009 1:41:50 PM | message detail |
Zelda
1's not getting to the finals if it still loses to a Mario game today
despite 2 other Mario games being in the poll. And, at this point I
think Mario 64 really is the strongest Mario- we'll see soon enough. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

There's
no way in hell LoZ advances next round. It can't beat LttP obviously,
and if Mario 64 can actually beat LttP (pretty doubtful) it'll beat

From: KamikazePotato | #408 From: red sox 777 | #409 Agree x2. It's a wonderful pipe dream for Ocarina, but the odds are practically impossible. I actually think LttP wouldn't have much trouble making the finals even if LoZ was there. Mario
64 loses to LttP, and there will be no good way to find out how it's
strength compared to World/3.(it's probably going to perform better
against FF7 because of better conditions no matter what happens, and
its performance relative to LttP will be impossible to judge the next
round with 3 Nintendo games in the mix). Although I guess if Mario 64 performs worse against FF7 than World does the next round despite its advantage I guess we can officially call it weaker --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |

HaRRicH | Posted 6/2/2009 1:54:31 PM | message detail |
I
live five-minute updates the most -- it keeps the Power Hour quite
interesting with time to talk, adds supense to comebacks, and is still
quick enough for more impatient people. I would probably be cool with
ten-minute updates too as a happy compromise, but fifteen-minute
updates are just too long now and insta-updates are too frantic and can
be hard on the site for close matches. --- BT > Harrich lol me |

Really,
think of insta-updates for close matches like we are every night for
the first five minutes of every match...and listen to us nowadays with
every unsuspected update during those close match. Now take away the
five-minutes of rest and the small pool of new votes if you check more
than every five minutes, and this topic would go to hell. It would be cool to have the last five minutes of every match be insta-updates like the first five minutes though, to be fair! Mario
3 did the best last round against World with the SNV, I think. There's
usually another big push starting around 6-6:30 with the ASV from the
West Coast, so we'll see if Zelda can make a move here- SMW made some
significant cuts the first hour of the ASV and couldn't do anything
with the latter parts of it last round. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |
