I used to think NES games in general aged pretty bad...but after getting a computer-based controller and playing a few VC-games on the Wii, I don't think that's the case anymore. I could buy that most gamers today who missed the NES growing up wouldn't "get" the NES, but I don't buy that there are only a select few games that aren't shovelware to the community that missed out. Get a good controller or two -- the more classic the better, though it's not necessary -- and invite somebody over who was familiar with NES-games growing up. They should be able to show you a very good time.

Yeah, I gotta get up early so I can get **** done before Nintendo's conference.

But I will agree that the SNES is the greatest console of all time. Just that NES was pretty damn good in its own right and the games are still fun and hold up much better than, say, Atari 2800 games.

Votals aren't really all that decent right now. 10975 votes after the first hour. Yesterday had 10768 after the first hour and ended with 121352. But since E3 officially starts today, I'm hoping that the increased site traffic will make the votals look better in the end.

NES>Sega Master System

SNES>Genesis (even though I owned a genesis and not an snes)

N64>playstation (controversial I know, but N64 has all the great multi player games like Mario Kart and Golden Eye. My N64 was always used on Friday nights to play epic games of goldeneye and to start argument about using oddjob. My psx was mostly for rpgs and other games I played by myself.)

XBOX>ps2>Gamecube (ps2 got out to a much better start, but XBOX took over midway through the generation and never looked back. I was a ps2 fanboy for a good while, having bought a ps2 at launch. But I got an XBOX shortly after Halo 2, and it got most my playing time after that

XBOX 360>playstation 3>Wii (although I like playing Wii more than ps3, because most of the good ps3 games are on 360 also. Still though, ps3 as a stand alone console is way better than Wii)

Not for a reaction, I'm just more into Sega then Nintendo. Give me Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage, and Sonic over Nintendo series.

But these are also games that all have very high playrates, so you should be expecting a lot of votes. I remember when votals were very poor near the end of round 1 because we were getting into games with low playrates.

No, this match is getting more than the Brawl/MGS4/Fallout/CoD4 match last round, which got 121000 votes. Votals are doing fine.

For me, SNES was the RPG system of the gen. Its RPGs were great, but for the classic rpgs it had, didn't beat the better lineup in terms of different genres that GEnesis had. This is just me though, and I've never been big into Nintendo games since Sega had more charm for me. I had Master System the gen before too, so I was raised a Sega kid.

Yeah, the fact that this is an all-Nintendo poll is definitely going to hurt the vote totals, despite the fact that these are all well-known and played games. SFF polls almost always get fewer votes than average.

I am a staunch defender of SNES > Genesis, but for some reason I've always thought that S3&K was better than SMW.

Zelda's already down nearly 700 votes. I don't see any way it makes a comeback that big here.

Not when SMB3 will be doing better than Zelda from now until the ASV arrives.

I am a staunch defender of SNES > Genesis, but for some reason I've always thought that S3&K was better than SMW.

Sonic was just always more fun to me (in 2d at least). The fast pace of the levels and colorful graphics really was fun for me. Mario games were always more about just pure platforming but the whole speed thing really set Sonic apart.

Mario 3 fell 3.9% against Zelda from the 1 hour mark to the end in 2004. That would put Zelda around 49% at the end here. But Mario 3 has every reason to have a stronger power hour now at 12 than it did at 3, since it sucks in Europe.

It's not out of the realm of possibility- Mario 3/World just have to have a better power hour than Mario 1. And perhaps just as importantly as the past trends here, Zelda has been doing much better the past 20 minutes than during the power hour.
