So how much of a lead does SMW need overnight? I'm thinking about 500

I assume you mean Mario 3, since I think World takes it if it has a lead of 0.

I played Zelda 1 on the NES, and I have to agree that it is a garbage game compared to LttP.

Well yeah, but that's more because 99% of games you play will look like garbage compared to LttP. It's not the game's fault, it's just that LttP is just that damn good.

yeah, I realized that right after I posted

500 sounds like a solid enough lead, especially with Zelda in there.

Or they rate graphics and story above actual entertainment value.

NES has a solid library. SMB3 is one of my favorite games, the other Marios are good, Zelda 1 is still fun, Zelda 2 is underrated (screw you all), the Mega Mans are fun excluding 1, FF3 was amazing, Kirby's Adventure is solid, Contra was epic, Capcom's Disney games like Duck Tales were awesome, need I go on?

I'll carry the torch.

Bubble bobble, Dr Mario, Skate or Die, Kung Fu, Elevator Action, Super C, Metroid, Punch-out, Faxanadu, Bionic Commando, Shadowgate, Duck Hunt, Castlevania (esp 2 and 3), Boy and his Blob, TMNT 1&2, Ice Hockey, Tecmo Bowl, Crystalis, Kid Icarus... I could continue for awhile like this.

Something to add to Leon's chart:

Period | Mario 3 | Sonic 1 | Mario World | FFIV
3-6:30 | 29.74% | 16.82% | 31.08% | 22.36%

That'd be Europe.

So... when 3 of the games are Mario games the SFF no longer applies? Just curious as to how Link is trailing by so much on his Mario counter-parts. Then again... Link did lose to SMB1 in the previous two rounds, and is now well ahead of that game. So, makes sense?

I'm not sure OoT wants SM64 instead of LTTP. SM64 shares the same console as OoT, and probably resists SFF better than another Zelda game would.

Are you kidding me? Forgot how badly SM64 got murdered by OoT five years ago, did we?

I agree there, i loved the NES megaman games.

Also there was one thing i generally dont see much of in later generation games: Difficulty.

The NES Megaman games i found considerably harder than the Megaman X series on the SNES, and X wasn't a bad series either.

Zelda 1 didn't age that well, but there's still a lot of other games that have aged great and are still quality and fun to play to this day, such as the Marios, Kirby, Contra, or hell, pretty much any platformer.

Last match, SMB3 did worst at night, and better at day.

SMB3 continued building a lead over SMW at night. It was about an hour before the dead zone arrived (4:00 AM) where SMW was stalling SMB3 and by the time the dead zone arrived, SMW was pulling a comeback. SMB3 will hold up better in the earlier part of the night vote, since that time period doesn't have that many European voters. It'll be more dominated by the United States, Asia, and Oceania, which all 3 of them preferred SMB3 over SMW last round.

I'm glad there's less difficulty in games these days. Most of us who grew up in the NES days are now older (obviously), busier, and actually have an income to purchase more games. There are also many, many more games available. I'd hate to spend my gaming time on fewer games because the ones available are too hard (and, therefore, time consuming). That crap was for 15 years ago when I could actually sit there and stomach playing through the same levels for hours at a time.

I agree with this. Most are still as fun today as they were 20+ years ago, and there are some which haven't aged as well but can still be fun such as Zelda 1, and then there's some which are just a pain in the ass to play today, such as Metroid and a lot of RPGs.
