I don't want to say anything about MGS, but it beating FF8 that comfortably means it has to be close to #10 on the list. I still think MGS is the strongest Metal Gear by far. MGS4 could have been if Konami didn't have their heads in their ass by releasing it on the Sega Saturn 2.0

RE4 can come close to TP in some situations and is practically even with MGS3. MGS1 beating TP definitely doesn't feel weird. MGS3 > > MGS1 would be like "lol wut" to me

I actually think TP and Brawl are overperforming somewhat this round, for whatever reason. TP going from barely beating RE4 to winning 57-43 says something happened in this round or last- my guess is it's this round. Call it Mature Game LFF, Stand Out Factor, or whatever you like. As for MGS, after seeing it beat FF8 soundly and put up 35% on OOT, I have no problem with it beating Melee or FFX either, though I don't think I'd actually go for the upset there.

It's not mature game LFF. Oblivion did much better relative to MGS3 than last round. It's just weirdness with MGS and RE, just like we've seen with FF and MGS in the past (which makes me think FFX has the advantage next round. Yes, you can argue that RBY stands up to OoT, but you just can't deny the possibility that FFVIII's presence cost MGS the win. You may not think that's what happened, but you can't deny the possibility it did. FFX possibly being stronger than MGS to begin with and not having a game that can potentially hinder it there gives it the edge there, I think).

I was on the RE4 board a lot and I did see an abnormally high amount of people always praise MGS3 there. Like, I never saw any other game mentioned on that board except MGS3, and quite often. I never knew what the deal was. I never really thought anything of it but maybe there is some weird connection X_X

FFX has a great chance of advancing, and indeed, RBY probably needs a bandwagon to make it here unless FFX is actually a fair bit weaker than MGS. I've always accepted FF/MGS overlap, and have never needed one of our "standard reasons" to believe in the possibility of LFF. Two games need share nothing other than disproportionate overlap in their fanbases to LFF.

RBY also has a great shot, however. I'd put it at something like 45-45-10 (with 10 being Melee's chances).

Well it seems that Brawl is recovering some % but you're right, with this showing it's unlikely that it could challenge OOT and FF7, yet you never know what can happen.

Pokemon RBY seems to be the main wildcarder of this contest. Its shown potential but unless it can pull off a major upset and off FFX then it likely won't make enough noise.

If RBY somehow does pull it off and defeats FFX, could it reach the final match?

Brawl is displaying much more balanced trends than is typical for Smash today. Its night vote was bad but not horrid, and its ASV doesn't look like top 2 in the contest. I wonder how many schools are on vacation now?

If RBY manages to beat FFX and TP and Brawl manage to have enough inherit strength that both advance over RE4 and MGS4, we'd see an epic all-Nintendo semi-final. It's ridiculously unlikely, but having semifinals where 7/8 games are Nintendo would be rich.

As is, they've got 11/16 of the quarterfinals.

There's barely enough room to make the character names legible. Shoehorning in the character icons isn't going to help that, and I would prefer to leave it as it is in the game regardless.

You know if you were going to be fair with the menu theme, you'd have Brawl in an options menu, not the character select screen. Yeah, it's boring, but with this theme it's the only not boring one.

Not really. The FFX menu screen is about the most boring thing ever. I mean, it may be slightly so but uhhh... yeah. Kinda bad theme in general though, sorry to say <_<

I'm just sayin... it's not much more boring than the other three and it's more in theme. It's certainly less lopsided than the pic right now, where Melee is the only one that has a serviceable picture.

Tomorrows match should be interesting.

We got 3 Mario games and one Zelda.

Now Zelda couldn't have asked for a better situation than this. 3 mario games that will be hurting each other so Zelda can advance again.

The main question here is which mario game goes on with Zelda?

SMB1 is not likely as its shown to be the weakest of the 3 mario games here. SMB3 and SMW are the main competitors for 2nd.

Both SMB3 and SMW are special games to many gamers as both were great, so it will be a difficult decision for many voters once this match begins.

For me i'm learning towards SMB3 a little more than SMW although weve that SMW is capable of putting up quite a fight.

What would really shock us would be SMB3 and SMW somehow sharing enough votes to not SFF each and get more votes than Zelda knocking her out, but at this point in the contest that's just plain wishful thinking.

But what would say if that very situation happened?
