Sounds
like a baseless assumption based on personal expectations to me! I'd
probably still take FFX over MGS, but wouldn't be confident in it at
all. FFX has been more impressive in every single match it has been in in my opinion, and you would just expect it to be stronger anyway so I see absolutely no reason to even remotely consider MGS > FFX. --- Oh, I've got one. Both
round 1 matches were on the weekend, so they make for a good
comparison. I'd say MGS3 improved a slight bit more after 6pm, but the
trends looked pretty similar. I'd say this is definitely a toss-up. --- FastFalcon and Solid Snake snapped my neck in the guru contest. |

Yeah, the 'it's common sense' argument has never done anything for me. What has MGS done to deserve this much respect? Would you all take it to beat SSBM as well? --- Oh, I've got one. And
it's not like that KH argument is the only thing. MGS2 only did 5%
worse than FFX on Melee in Snake's worst year, when Square was still
the top force on this site, or at least even with Nintendo. MGS beat
FFX on the list by several spots on the List in 2005. And it just put
up 35% on OOT and beat FFVIII fairly easily, which is more impressive
than anything FFX has ever done (SSBM got 37% on FFVII, but it also got
54% on....GTA: VC). Man, the more I think about this the more I want to
actually take MGS > FFX 1v1! --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

SSBB > TP's the favourite, but MGS4 has some great odds there. MGS4 could sneak through next round if SSBB can actually SFF TP. We've already seen SSBB SFF Galaxy, which lost to GTA IV. Both SSBB and Galaxy are huge Wii releases. The same applies for SSBB and TP, so it should be logical that SSBB SFFs TP as well. But there's a little less overlap between SSBB and TP, though. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but still not as cool as FastFalcon05, Guru Champ! |

And the top 100 isn't very credible either. FFVI and FFVII cost FFX a lot of votes, MGS fans flock to the original. I just don't see it. --- Oh, I've got one. I'd
probably take FFX > MGS too if it came to it, but common sense just
doesn't apply here (not to mention it's officially replaced blindly
following x-stats as the most overused, worst, argument in this topic)-
I see no reason why MGS couldn't be stronger than FFX. Could I imagine
Nintendo fans voting Samus over Mario? I had a hard time doing that,
and I think most people did, even those who took Samus. Can I imagine
people voting for MGS over FFX? Yes, yes I can. FFX > MGS is not
"common" sense. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

all of MGS's matches involved Pokemon. it is extremely difficult to say anything definitive there. FFX has not looked great. this might be the best match of the contest. this is a gruel 10 hour comeback for a small amount of votes that could go anywhere. weekend trends have always shown a shift to a night vote around 6:30. --- xyzzy |

I wonder whether the MGS ralliers are going to try to do anything tonight given that it hurts MGS4 next round. That's what I was thinking. The MGS ralliers should be aware of the consequences of their rallying this round, because I don't think they would want MGS4 to be eliminated next round. If anything, the MGS ralliers would prefer to have one of the MGS games go as far as it can into the contest before being eliminated. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but still not as cool as FastFalcon05, Guru Champ! |

Well,
RE4 was up against KH2, which has a very good second night vote, so it
shouldn't be too surprising if it does a bit better with it here than
with the day. It's still too early to tell how the SNV will go though. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |
-LusterSoldier- | Posted 5/31/2009 3:02:30 PM | message detail |
I would expect MGS to have a bad SNV actually due to Europe feeding its strength during the FNV. By the time the SNV rolls in, voting from Europe will come to an almost complete halt. It'll be mostly dominated by North America, South America, Asia, and Australia. There isn't too much difference between ASV and SNV trends. The big difference is that the SNV benefits characters/games that could be rallied, like Frog. Characters/games that are strong with the ASV aren't really going to drop off much going into the SNV. And with a bad ASV, you won't be going up much during the SNV either. Take a look at Chief/Snake in the 2007 semifinal: Time | The Chief | Dante | L-Block | Snake | Demographic ASV | 26.31% | 15.34% | 33.06% | 25.29% | (14:30-22:00) SNV | 26.78% | 16.24% | 32.01% | 24.97% | (22:00-24:00) Chief actually went up slightly during the SNV and Snake dropped a bit. Chief was still cutting Snake in the SNV. And that was a weekend match too, so expect something similar to that. If RE4 has at least a 300 vote lead going into the final 2 hours, I think it will be safe since MGS3 is no Frog. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but still not as cool as FastFalcon05, Guru Champ! |
