Considering RBY is beating FF8 with room to spare...who's to say?

Take away MGS, add Melee, add the fact that FFX is stronger than FFVIII, and FFX probably wins. Not a guarantee, but I like its chances, obviously.

I don't see why FFX is suddenly way stronger than FF8 when we were debating the two a month ago.

FFX was always stronger. The only time we even considered FFVIII > FFX was after it creamed StarCraft, and then it turned out that StarCraft was crap anyway.

I don't want to rely on a split to push FFX on when, y'know, that's failed time and time again.

But there will be a split, and FFX won't be light years behind these games anyway.

Nice that RBY is finally able to show off it's ASV chops. Guess GS really did completely sap its day vote.

And yeah, I guess I should reserve judgement on FFX for now. Tonight should tell us a lot. If it gets anywhere close to Melee while KH is in the poll - even losing 55-45 - then it's a definite contender for next round.

Wow, RBY...I doubted it pretty much every step of the way, and I was only semi-right last round. Do I see right, that it cut LoZ:OoT at one point? RBY's beasting, and it would be hard to buy an argument where it's not in the top five of people's lists for me right now. I mean, SSBM got ~37% against FF7 in 2004 and we called that a probable over-performance yet still in our Super Seven at the time...RBY's going to have 37+% on LoZ:OoT and beat MGS and FF8 despite LFF and potential SFF. Very impressive...

...which brings up the next round, which'll probably be LoZ:OoT/RBY/FFX/SSBM. FFX is going to do significantly better than FF8 today, but I don't know if it's over for RBY at that point yet. SSBM's not been that impressive this contest so far (though tomorrow is its first fair shot to try), SSBB apparently over-shadowed it, and I don't really know how much I want to take a Gamecube game to hang in there with two of the biggest Nintendo-titles ever -- especially since SSBM's got like nine playable characters from those games and got a lot of the SSB-series's popularity come from the randomness of Poke-balls. Throw in that I have a hard time seeing RBY lose much percentage at this point, and SSBM's probably going to be a somewhat-distant fourth. I've trusted FFX > FF8 from the beginning and it will stand out more than ever, but FFX surely isn't 55-45'ing FF8 indirectly and I don't know if SSBM's going to hurt RBY that much more.

RBY's next match is a doozy and probably decides the championship.

Pokemon gained like 420 votes that last hour. 4 more of those hours during the "Heart" of the ASV gives it a 2000 vote lead, and with diluted hours, we might still get up to 3000.

For some reason, I figured you'd bring that up. FFX vs. MGS: Who you got?

You know, for a while we assumed that a lot of the FFs were in the same general range, but it really doesn't seem to be the case.

Valid point -- it's hard for me to take MGS > FFX, though it should definitely be close. MGS has done enough to differ from MGS2 to keep it close. I still don't trust how much RBY will drop due to SSBM, but I like FFX more than before with that perspective.

MGS > FF8 >= KH feels pretty right; MGS is 56-44'ing FF8 and KH isn't going to be far from FF8 one way or another.

Then again, that same projection has MGS > FFX, which I'm not too comfortable with. Bah, these games are a wreck to sort out. Either way, I'm definitely taking MGS > KH head-to-head in either format.

FFX beat MGS2 easily. While MGS1 > MGS2 by a decent margin, I don't think that the MGS1 does better on MGS2 indirectly than FFX did. I figure 55-45 at best.

So yeah, FFX > MGS, and adding another Nintendo game to the poll, I'm definitely liking OOT > FFX for next round.

Yeah, at least this is a godsend for FFX. I can't imagine it losing to MGS4, and I get the feeling something as new as Brawl would completely collapse against OoT, meaning that RE4 could be the last realistic threat to topple it before the finals. I'd love to see that, but I'd also love to see how badly LttP and FFX could get creamed.

And it looks like Ocarina of Time is probably not going much higher than 38.5% here. MGS, despite its free falling, will still end up around 35% on OoT. What do we think about this performance?
