This update was the largest lead CT had before the ASV killed it. Sure it doesn't officially start until 3pm, but this next 30 minutes are important.

Actually, next round should be the second in a row where FFVII looks more impressive than OoT. FFX should really galvanize that Square/non-Nintendo support, Pokemon has no reason to collapse after not collapsing here, and it's hard to imagine Melee pulling in the distant fourth place.

Which Nintendo game gets left behind, though? Fans have to basically abandon Melee; hard to see this happening. And even then, FFX is in an excellent position. It's an even more "non-Nintendo" option than FFVI was.

Yeah, but I still don't take FFX to beat FF8 by any sort of wide margin. For it to win, it's going to have to prove itself tomorrow. Melee is probably going to stand up to OoT almost as well (if not as well) as RBY is.

Not buying the whole Nintendo split thing after we saw FF4 completely fail to capitalize on 2 Mario games and 1 Sonic game in the poll. Especially since we've seen Pokemon and SSB resists SFF.

Unless FFX gets close to Melee tonight, I probably consider Melee the favorite.

You know, I think Pokemon RBY is the star of this contest. Every single match it's been in has been exciting and almost impossible to predict. It could even finish second next round against Melee/FFX!

I'm not buying RBY splitting to a good degree with...anything other than GS, really. Remember that Pokemon isn't just a Nintendo game. It transcended that. It came out when there wasn't a Nintendo handheld and a Sony handheld, there was just the Game Boy. It sold 30 million copies. Damn near everyone played it. It's going to affect FFX too.

FFX is much stronger then FF8.

With that said, the only games I see finishing in second next round is FFX or Pokemon. I can't see Melee doing anything with OoT there. Console Nintendo SFF is dangerous, especially with OoT in there.

We already knew Pokemon is stronger then MGS since round 1. The only way MGS would beat RBY in the following rounds would be using SFF/LFF (which it did last round). Don't really see the point in complaining about it now...

FFX is stronger than FF8, but by how much? RBY currently has 54.8% on FF8, and that's only going to look worse by the end of the match. Would you take FFX to 55-45 FF8 before SFF? Possible, yeah, but also debatable.

Diablo 2 beating FFX would be an awesome result! It would kill my potential winning bracket, but god damn it, seeing one of my favorites beating FF anything is awesome!

Why wouldn't you? FFX and FFVIII aren't tied at the hip, they never were. We've had every reason to think that FFX is the stronger game between the two, including having seen it in the last contest where it put up 49% on Melee. Round 1 looked better than FFVIII, and it did in round 2, too, despite KH getting close to it.
