I wonder what happened to FFVII the first 2 round though. Did people just say, "FFVII always wins," and vote for their favorite among the other games knowing that FFVII had first locked up?

First image...that apparently doesn't work when you click on it. But I think it's official art, so if I was dedicated enough to go and find a way to get it, Sora would look slightly more stupid than usual.

You sure? Most places seem to list his height as 177cm(5' 10") although I did see a few places say 173cm(5' 8").

Probably not. SM64's going to end up swinging about 1400 votes with the ASV from 300 down. FFVII and OOT will be playing with higher percentages, but it's way harder to cut from 2000 down than from 300 down. FFVII's day vote has gotten a lot worse, but this is also partially CT's day vote getting better.

this entire contest's worth depends on the quality of the OOT/FF7 match. FF7/OOT should have two massive vote swings - OOT crushing FF7 early, FF7destroying it overnight, OOT showing its might in the day.

I still think he'd feel silly about proclaiming FFVII as the contest champion while Ocarina is kicking its butt 1v1. It would kinda make the whole format look silly.

For weeks people thought Mario 3 was going to SFF-bury Mario World. So either A) it didn't happen, or B) Mario World was hyper-rSFFed and is going to beat FFVII in the semis.

I still don't see Melee beating SMB3, and by extension the other Mario games. I've been a big proponent of Melee for a long time, but.....new Nintendo has looked bad, while old Nintendo has looked good. As much as I would like to draw the line between New Nintendo and Old Nintendo at January 1st, 2002, it probably falls before that, at the launch of the Gamecube.

depends on the definition of old and new.

to me, anything pre-1996 is sketchy. I still want to drop LTTP to like 9th place. remember, most voters are between the ages of like 16 and 21. 16 year olds were 4 when FF7 came out, 5 when OOT came out. Mario 3 is probably older than half our voters. of course, Mario 3 is the exception to the rule since it's so timeless and whatnot, but the point stands.

I don't see why you'd would drop CT out of the top 10 based on this match. It's closer to Mario 64 than last round, and no one thought it was a big favorite today or anything- most people seemed to think it'd lose worse than last round.
