Yeah,
I think if this stall happened at a Lead of say... 800, it would
arguably be better, because then the ASV could make this interesting. I don't think it's so much that we're bored by matches when they're close, it's that we get bored when we know that in spite of it being close at the moment, that it's certainly not going to stay that way when the trends will destroy it later. If you could get a stall, even at a bigger lead, that trends would predict would lead to a photo finish at the end, I think it'd be different. Obviously things change when the trends are being defied, but so far, they aren't. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? I've enjoyed every match of this contest. it doesn't have to be a close match for it to be entertaining. take today, for example. this match is good because we're seeing FF7 dominate. tomorrow's match is good because we see OOT try and match it. --- xyzzy http://www.mistwalkercorp.com/en/_src/sc569/HNI_0022.jpg |

don't know how to enjoy matches anymore Okay, addendum, the games/characters involved make a difference. If you had say... Vyse and Laharl have a match that played out exactly like Mario/Crono II, it wouldn't be remembered as it was. Significant? Probably. However, as legendary as Mario/Crono II is considered? No way. Now, is that a "fair" way to look at matches? Probably not, but it'll happen. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? Great stuff by FFVII here. Most impressive performance of any game this contest IMO. http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3608/r3pokemonrby.png That pic is fantastic. It's about time this "creative" garbage got out of here and we get some simple, good looking pics (today's is good as well). I seriously don't understand how anyone could prefer any of those other pics over this one. And another thing that needs to go is how game x affects game y's day vote in comparison to game z. That's a fallacy guys. Stick LttP with OoT and 2 games with poor day votes, and LttP is still going to rise in the day. Why? Because OoT's monster day vote affects everyone. That includes the 2 games with poor day votes. In regards to today's match, Goldeneye was never going to "dilute" SM64's day vote. Seriously. --- Oh, I've got one. 5% off of what it got on Mario Kart, GoldenEye, and Mario RPG is impressive. I think that shows that FFVII still has a very good number of people who actually consider it the best game ever. Where adding in stronger opponents doesn't cause it to go down much, they'll just push each other down. way Mario 64 and Goldeneye are stinking it up has me even more weary of

People
complain about stalls even if its the same trends for both games,
keeping it close all day (like the mk/metroid matches). People just
don't know how to enjoy matches anymore It's because matches in 4 ways have no tension. It's either a battle between the Top 2, in which case no one cares since neither of them is being eliminated, or it's between #2 and #3 in which case nobody cares because it's not like either of them is the winner. Without the threat of elimination or the triumph of victory there's nothing to get excited about. --- FastFalcon owned me in the Guru Contest! |

These
results kind of baffle me. Last time, SM64 beat CT quite easily despite
another Mario game (SMW2) in the vote to split results. This time,
there is no other Mario game to split votes, plus you have FFVII in
there to steal some RPG votes from CT, and yet CT is winning. Makes no
sense to me. --- People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~ Rogers Hornsby |

know I'm definitely cheering against FF8 because I don't want an
FF8/FF10 split to throw both out.. though on the other hand, I do want
to see that match. OoT/Melee/FFVIII/FFX doesn't guarantee Melee advances. I think it'd be the biggest question mark of the contest. You have no clue what'll happen there. And no stealing my "Perfect Storm" slogan! --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |
