There's 2 outcomes of that match:

1. Goldeneye gets SFF'd into the ground, Mario wins comfortably over CT
2. Goldeneye stands up a bit, Mario still wins comfortably over CT

Looking at the upcoming match, some may wonder if this match will pull a similar stunt like SMB3 and SMW did.

Will the 2 Zeldas split their power evenly, or will one attempt to subdue the other for its votes?

Um... I would expect something more like Mario 64/Yoshi's Island. SMB3 and SMW are splitting the way they are because they were of equal strength in the first place. Whereas Link's Awakening is many times weaker than Link to the Past is.

FF6 and Super Metroid's odd pretty much depends on how the 2 zeldas affect each other. If they split evenly like Mario did, there's no chance on Metroid or FF6 advancing.

FF6 already beat Link's Awakening last round.

Here is an idea. Maybe the SFF in that match was not that strong, and Goldeneye was just that weak.

In other words, maybe in 2004, SM64 was worth 35-40% on on OoT indirectly, while Goldeneye was worth only around 30%.

What I am saying is that Goldeneye/OoT SFF is not that big, and neither is Goldeneye/SM64 SFF. But OoT/SM64 SFF is huge.

why would there be less SFF in SM64/GE? Both games were played by the exact same people, and SM64 is loved much more so. Very similar to OOT/SM64.

So basically it looks like the first two or three hours and the last two or three hours are what wins this match for Mario 3. Everything else was pretty much 50/50.

Just because something happens in one Nintendo match doesn't mean it applies to all Nintendo.

Think of the size of the Mario fanbase, then compare with the size of the Zelda fanbase. Mario is probably for all intents and purposes virtually immune to LFF because everyone and their grandmother has played his games. You can't say the same about Zelda, no matter how popular it is on this site.

Mario Kart and SMRPG didn't hurt GE much? Did they hurt each other much, then? Because SMRPG didn't do that much worse worse against GE in round 2 than in round 1, and MK64, a clearly weaker game than GE, got 30% on FFVII in round 1 with SF64 in the poll.

FF6 will win, or come very close to it.

For starters, there's a very clear difference between FF6 and FF4, namely that FF6 has actual fans instead of people who will just vote for Final Fantasy.

Secondly, FF6 is within 5% of LttP to begin with, adding a Zelda and Super Metroid to the mix can't possibly hurt that.

Using today's match as justification for FF6 not winning tomorrow is silly.
