Yeah, I thought you were probably referring to Twilight Princess, but I wasn't sure. Snake in Brawl is right up there with it though, if not even above it, I'd say.

The crowd reaction to that zooming closeup of Link was just nuts. I remember the Board 8 tracking topic. I was at my high school library with no volume and was barely getting a live feed, then I looked at the topic and saw like 30 "oh my god" posts in a row.

Looks I'm in my own bizarro world again when it comes to match pics. The SMB3/Sonic/SMW/FF1 is really good, while the first Round 3 is an absolute mess, IMO.

Ugh, at us losing themes again as well. Where is the Title Screen Round?!!!!!

I'd say the Snake Thing is bigger, but the TP thing came at a press conference so that probably had more impact. Snake thing was closed-door and we didn't see it til hours later.

What's all that stuff behind it? It looks like more attention was given to that background stuff than the actual box shots, which don't look high quality. Final Fantasy's looks very blurry.

Yeah FFIV is barely visible. SMB3 really stands out.

The Zelda background pic is good, albeit a bit confusing. Surprised that went through. At it least it won't have any impact on the ordering though, so it's nice to see it.

SSBB's got the pic-advantage...I'd argue Snake's unveiling is THE biggest announcement of the decade due to how unexpected of a collaboration that was. That is why SSBB ever got as hyped as LoZ:TP -- that was going to be big almost no matter what. Hopefully having Mario in the match twice helps SMG...but he's either falling in SSBB's pic or running away from something in SMG's pic. I figure it won't.

Also, in all this, where is the talk of FF13 also going to the 360? That's pretty huge too; talk about a hit for Sony.

Filtered box arts on a graffiti background in round 3? Just a mess of a pic -- it's not even creative either, so it doesn't get any points there. First one is pretty cool, though.

I've said for months I don't care who makes these, as long as they participate. If MWC and Turtle want to make every topic, sweet. I just have OCD and a missing space really does drive me nuts.

I just wish we wouldn't have so many pictures where the emphasis is on the "creativity" of the picture maker rather than on the games. The picture should complement the match, not contrast it.

I like pics that find a common theme within themselves rather than adding one. Having made the first R3-pic, I'm comfortable with it (though SB made my pic into a lower quality with some of the blurriness...bah). The second pic is hard to see, but I'd be okay with it if the box-art was clearer.

Dammit, I post the pic beforehand and get positive reviews on it, then it gets accepted and everyone goes nuts.

I even made it just the box arts with an artsy background! I barely did anything to the covers! There's no problem with it. The only people that whine about pics are you guys because you like to whine. No casual voter is going to come on and pick apart the pic. Hell, they probably don't even look at it for long.

I'll admit something like the swimming pool pic is kinda pushing it, and maybe the pencil pic (even though the characters were nice and clear there), but honestly, when it comes down to it, the pics maybe effect two or three votes at the most, and Bacon wouldn't let us make our own pics if they were a big deal, and he wouldn't accept the artsy ones if they didn't portray the game properly or give an advantage/disadvantage to one of them.

It probably got chosen because there weren't a lot of submissions, or maybe it was the only one, for that match. I was planning on doing something, but didn't figure he'd put it up so early.

But oh well, it's not going to change the result. At the same time, though, it's not a good pic. We could have done a lot better than filtered box arts in round 3.

I don't think you understand. Pics mean barely anything. Have you SEEN the second round pic? FFIV still did a great job under that "handicap."

He struggled to beat a character who was losing to AXEL at one point. Say pic factor doesn't matter all you want, but the fact it is does.
