All four of those rock, especially LoZ:TP's...which sucks for RE4. It's fitting this gets such a great set of pics though, since a LOT of our brackets are riding on tomorrow's outcome.

Either way the others are right, tomorrow's match can essentially decide who wins at the finals.

Yeah I don't care about pics. TP still has to prove it's an elite Zelda game as far as I'm concerned. Obviously it didn't fall on it's face but I don't know what to think of it's first pack. Although where FFXII is concerned it seems like it's always better to aim low!

TP should have first place in the bag tomorrow. I'd be pretty surprised if it didn't. Overall, it had a stronger fourpack than RE4 did, I think.

KHII > HL2 > FFXII > SotC > Gears > PW

Well, it's probably close, but I think there's a bigger gap between FFXII and SotC than there is between KHII and HL2 or between Gears and PW.

I feel like Zelda 1 would go the way of FF1 if it ever met up against another Zelda game. It probably wouldn't fall apart as completely as FF1 did, but...yeah.

Both. I don't think the Zelda fanbase really cares for TP much, and nostalgia is a strong force. I'm probably wrong, but Mario doing so well this round suggests maybe my Zelda 1 as around a top 10 game belief wasn't so misguided, and I just really underestimated SMB.

The fact that Zelda got beat so badly basically rules out its status as a top ten game to me.

Of course, I probably would've said the same thing about Mario 64 after OoT tripled it, so...!

I'll still take TP over Zelda 1 head-to-head though.

I don't think Zelda 1 is a top 10 game anymore. It's behind 4 Mario games pretty certainly, and when you add FFVII/OOT/LTTP/CT/SSBM to that, there's only one spot left in the top 10. I would never have taken Zelda 1 over FFX, and I'd probably go with FFVIII, FFVI, and RBY over it as well. Top 15 still looks very possible though.

You know, we've still never really seen the oldies take on games from the past 15 or so years. I have a feeling they'd fold when up against newer stuff from the same series. I'd be shocked to see LoZ take TP or LA, for example.

I kind of agree. It's really hard to picture Zelda losing this, but I can easily see HL2 placing. It's the only Xbox and PC option, and it's got less overlap with the other three than they do with each other.

So does anyone think that Tetris is a threat to take to down Zelda 1 next round? Tetris looks be much stronger than it was in 2004, due to L-Block momentum and a greater respect for video game icons.

Zelda 1 tripled Tetris in 2004. It's just as iconic as Tetris. L-Block isn't Tetris, and L-Block lost to a yellow rat anyway.

I just don't see Zelda getting third here, but I still think highly of TP. You basically have to work it out to where FFXII/Shadow of the Colossus is a debatable match for RE4 and KHII to be ahead of TP. Of course, taking stats at face value in this format in general is bad news, but I'd still be pretty surprised if it were anything but first tomorrow.

Resident Evil 4: Ooooo, PERSPECTIVE! It's as if the gun we're popping right out of the frame! If I were Leon, I'd poke my gun into Link's section and give him something to look indifferent about.

Kingdom Hearts II: Does Bacon even care about his own rules anymore? Anyway, Sora looks like he's starting to take this SERIOUSly. But I don't think he realizes there's a talking dog behind him.

Twilight Princess: "Sigh, another one of these contests? I guess I'll have to strike a cool pose and hold it for a day. That'll get me at least 70% of the vote. I'm Link, after all."

Half-Life 2: "Damn that Link! He always has everything so easy! It just destabilizes my electrons to know he's going to advance without even trying! I JUST WANT TO SMACK SOMETHING. WHERE THE HELL IS TINA ARMSTRONG?"

I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow. Realistically, there could be any combination of those 4 games advancing. I'm thinking something crazy like KH2 > TP is very likely. TP just SCREAMS overrated to me, and everything seems to be building up to it completely tanking.

Wind Waker, Zelda 1 and Majora's Mask jobbing are definitely warning signs, Galaxy being a pile of crap also adds fuel to the fire.

I think whichever game moves on tomorrow should be considered the favorite for next round. MGS3 is not looking strong right now, sad to say.

I'm surprised there isn't more KHII hype, really. We've seen KH get dangerously close to FFX and KHII surprised most of us by getting dangerously close to RE4 last round. I think most people around here would take FFX over TP; I don't know about KHII > KH but it doesn't seem unreasonable and at the very least KHII probably isn't far behind. And yet nobody seems to be biting on this.

Well, there is that argument about RE4's fanbase being significantly made up of traditional Nintendo fans and that TP will sap some of it away. Guess we'll see how much truth there is to that.

Not necessarily. If you think RE4 acts like a Nintendo game (yo/harrich/maybe me) or will be bothered by another game with gunz (probably nobody) then you can have one without the other. The former seems at least a little plausible in terms of what Leon's done (even in the face of Ninty characters *very* different from him) and the GotC poll combined with FFX/KH and RE4/KHII.

Match XLVI: Resident Evil 4 vs. Kingdom Hearts II vs. LoZ: Twilight Princess vs. Half-Life 2

Last Round:

Resident Evil 4 – 34.17%
Kingdom Hearts II – 33.61%
Shadow of the Colossus – 18.34%
Gears of War – 13.88%

LoZ: Twilight Princess – 39.10%
Half-Life 2 – 25.85%
Final Fantasy XII – 23.65%
Phoenix Wright – 11.40%

Analysis

In an attempt to show you the power difference between the two matches in this division I would take three games in this match as first place while the fourth would get second; I’d also take Final Fantasy XII for second as well. The two winners in this match will most likely place first and second in the following round and have an excellent chance at placing in the quarter-finals making the match all the more important.

Twilight Princess will continue on its rampage in this division by taking first. It won’t be an easy win like last round and it may even struggle at night, but by morning it will build up a good enough lead to show why it’s the strongest game in this division. Twilight Princess needs to look good here because its match against Brawl will weakened it which could cause it lose first or even not placing in round 4.

After the failings of the original Half-Life many people gave up hope, but it still manage to defeat Final Fantasy XII; this round however it has no chance at placing. Even though this division is a bit imbalance I’d rather have two good round two matches than one good round three match. Anyway Half-Life 2 will take last through won’t be blown away by the competition.

The battle for second will be between Resident Evil 4 and Kingdom Hearts II. Last round Resident Evil 4 was able to win by a margin of less than 1000 votes, this time it has Twilight Princess to contend with. Resident Evil 4 may be on the same console as Twilight Princess, but the two games don’t really have much in common. Also Resident Evil 4 also gets a large portion of its support from the Playstation 2.

Kingdom Hearts II impressed last round and with the original doing well a few matches ago gives me the perception that Kingdom Hearts II has strength itself. It may have lost last round, but this time it can hope that Twilight Princess SFF or LFF just a bit to give Kingdom Hearts II the win. Also the biggest factor going for Kingdom Hearts II is that I have Resident Evil 4 and apparently round 2 hates me and my bracket a lot.

I’d have to give Kingdom Hearts the favourite to take second here, but I’ll be supporting Resident Evil 4 in hopes I can get another match fully right before the round ends. You kind have to feel sorry for the second place game in today’s match since it is going to be crushed next round.

Half-Life 2 doesn't deserve to be last place factor'd, but I guess even getting to round 2 is an achievement.

BTW I used the same percentage's from KOTOR's match here. I wonder if that's a good idea.

And I stupidly have RE4 > HL2 in my bracket, so I'm in danger of this match being my first 0 pointer.

And yes SSBM is this site's favorite GCN game.

I really cannot see Resident Evil 4 advancing here, with Twilight Princess draining its Nintendo support and Half-Life 2 draining its FPS support. It has no reason to gain in strength and every reason to become weaker.

I don't think TP hurts RE4 a whole lot, though only because most Nintendo fans prefer RE4 over any new Nintendo game.
