Another issue that I have to take stands about: Does GameFAQs not (relatively speaking) care about mature gaming?

I need people to take sides on this question. Are Pokemon and Smash devoid of the usual Nintendo fanbase?

I'm going with no. However, they may be able to resist it better than the other Nintendo groups. But can they just evade it completely? No way.

Yeah I didn't think so. And I don't think Pokemon stands a chance in its match anymore.

I also have a theory that old-school franchises are not able to SFF modern ones. That doesn't necessarily relate to this contest, but I just felt like pointing it out.

I'd say it does care, assuming you're referring to game series that are labeled "M" by the ESRB. Leon does well in these things, and Resident Evil 4 is pretty loved on the site. Another example that stands out to me is Metal Gear Solid/Solid Snake

Solid Snake is basically the most popular thing to come out of mature gaming on this site (or most anywhere, honestly). Dante and Kratos are pretty popular around here, too, though their games aren't, for whatever the reason.

@ffmasterjose: I know this site cares, but if you think about it, RE4 has loads of critical acclaim while KH2 has very mixed reception. Yet the two games were going head to head with each other in their match. Also, RE4 is not the most popular GCN game on this site (whereas in most places it is the best GCN game no question), and it's possibly outclassed by two Wii games as well. Same with every MGS game. And every FPS, relatively speaking.

You could also say that other sites don't really care for Nintendo.

Square on the other hand is all GameFAQs though.

Yeah, WoW is falling pretty hard with the early ASV. Heck, it's only gained about 200 votes on Tales of Symphonia since 11 A.M. Of course, that'd probably be more without the lost hour and a half, but still, its updates are closer to ToS than they are to Oblivion right now.

This is all Obivion though. WoW is looking better on MGS3 then it did last round so you can't say it flopped this round.

I wonder if Oblivion will end up with a lower percentage than Diablo. It only had like 44% of people taking it out of round one, compared to 34% for Diablo II, so probably not, but Oblivion to round three is a pretty big upset that virtually no one on Board 8 picked.

Actually, Snake Eater's percentage will probably be pretty low. I didn't realize that only 45% of people picked it to advance. That's crazy. Usually MGS has good bracket support.

I'd imagine that WoW and Halo 2 were the overall favorites to get to round three, and they won't be there. Heck, San Andreas was probably third favorite.

Yeah, WoW, San Andreas and Halo 2 had to be just due to name recognition. I can't imagine many casuals picking Oblivion over those. Hell, barely any people "in the know" did!

Reception has little to do with it in this case. Kingdom Hearts II is Square, one of the top two most popular franchises on this site. Resident Evil isn't exactly in the same league with that.

I don't know which game will come second tomorrow. On KH2's hand, RE4 will not only be LFF'ed by Half-Life 3, but it should be slightly SFF'ed by Twilight, leaving KH2 to advance. On RE4's hand, KH2 prediction percentage was incredibly low and RE4 has the bracket advantage. Plus KH2's day vote won't be as dominant due to ZELDA.

If SB didn't do so much as say anything about SM/SMK in either round, I really doubt he'll rerun a match unless it's pretty mandatory. A little over an hour of down-time probably doesn't fit in that category.

Oblivion's looking good here; it's beating ToS worse than last time, it's 700 votes up on WoW early in the ASV, and is currently getting ~43% on MGS3 despite having the worst pic in the match and no bracket support or big expectations. Nicely done. I wonder how it will hold up with some real big-name games around here though; MGS3 is nice competition, but let's throw in LoZ:TP and probably KH2 in R3 and see if it still holds up. I kinda fear it won't, though there's not a lot of reason for it not to do well enough considering its two matches we've seen so far. Time'll tell, I guess.

Huh. For some reason, I thought Oblivion had almost a 2000 vote lead on WOW. It's currently at ~1000. I clearly haven't been paying too much attention to the vote lead.
